New Web Page Design

I'm STILL trying to design the web page in a way that will look best on MOST screens.

There's no way I can make it look right on EVERYONES computer though, it all depends how you have your resolution set, but I wanted to show you what it's intended to look like.

So here's a screen shot.

LOOKS CUTE!

I have a few requests...

1) a shout box would be awesome!

2) A real chat room is needed...badly! Then a nice year or so to clean up this mess of a forum.

Hey Kas.

We have a real chat room, no one uses it

The reason we use the forum like a chat room is because most people are working and this way they can keep up with the conversation.

Not sure what you mean by a shout box. Care to elaborate? I'm not hip to your young-person lingo

A shoutbox is a module that you can download and install. I've had some experience with PHP Nuke, but not sure what program this website is using. Typically they are set up on the side, much like your list there on the left. Some shout boxes scroll and some don't. It's basically a place to just post a small quick message, hello, or whatever. It's best to have one that refreshes itself if it's going to be used a lot, like I'm sure it would be here.

Here's my old website for the world of warcraft guild I used to lead, there's a shoutbox on the left there :

shattered.guildportal.com - Unfortunatly mine didn't scroll :(

It would almost eliminate the need for a chatroom, (although with the way you talk, you still need one) keep the forums from having too much spamage, would promote participation from some of your less vocal members, be an easy way to alert people to any info they may need, and would just plain be COOL.

PS- You are not so old that I'm considered a youngin' already are you? You DO know what COOL is right?

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like it alot.  The links are sharp and everything is right there on one screen.  The album covers makes it look sharp!

Is there any way to make the Radio Waves link go directly to the Freeze Frame Charts???

I like it! I like how everything fits on the screen. I don't know if I ever scrolled down to see what the other buttons were before.

It looks very neat and organized and PROFESSIONAL.

I disagree with the shoutbox idea. I don't know where you'd put it, it would open up a place for inappropriate comments which would then be seen as soon as someone enters the website, I don't think the people you would want to use it would use it, and I don't think it follows the mission of what you're trying to accomplish with the website. I assume the website is really for two things: to make people listen (which I think the slideshow is a great tool for), and to attract new talent, bands, and other people in the music industry. A shoutbox would be a main staple of the website, and it would make it look like a community first. Although we're a tight knit family here, that's really just a side benefit.

Hey guys, thanks a lot. I'm glad you like it.

I thought the slideshow would be a nice touch to show the variety we play. I still need to add more covers to it, and I want to balance between new music and classic stuff to show our variety.

There's still some more tweaking to do, but in general the layout is set. I'm glad to have a home page again where we can put announcements of things like New Music Weekends and such.

Hopefully the majority of people will now see the entire site and not have a big chunk of it cut-off.

Well I like it a lot! Love the SLIDE of CD's! I can't see the Mechandise and Photo Button or the scroll at the bottom of the page without changing my screen, but yeah you can see most of it!

Wow Woo, you're always the one who has it the worst, I swear you must have your monitor set for 60 x 80 pixels. Your monitor is the equivalent of a "Large Print" book

I moved the ADVERTISE button to the bottom so you lose one you don't need anyway.

Now, if you have your monitor set like I do, there's about 3 inches of open space under that navigation bar. This is now where secret messages about Woo will be posted every day

I have a 17' flat screen monior set at 800x600 at home and I have a 19' flat screen at work.

And if you are setting up messages about me then you are thinking of me!

Yeah, sure, that's the ticket, "thinking of you", uh huh

I just tried setting my monitor at 600 x 800 (I have it set normally at the next level which is like 800 x 1024).

WHOA! What a difference! It all looks so cramped on your screen

Hey SG,

The RadioWave Link does go right to the AC Chart, which is the one we countdown and get our new music from. I don't think we have our own chart on their site, although if I'm not mistaken that's a possibility in the future because they do monitor what each individual station plays.

I'm not sure though, I'll have to look into it further.

There is a Freeze Frame chart!  Yeah!  It looks like it was a partial week though.....look at station charts then AC/AAc then Freeze Frame

This new layout is far better JR, alot cleaner looking and easy to navigate. I like it.

Also the shoutbox idea might be cool, I have seen those before, it would be good for non-forum members to say a quick hello and for us to try and get them to join.

LOL! I just realized here at work that I could see all the buttons on the page! So I went to see the settings and it is on 1024 x 768. So why does this setting bother me at home?!

SG!

Great job finding us! HOW COOL TO HAVE OUR CHART LISTED!!!! The AC/AAA format is so small too, that if we could grow the station we could have a MAJOR impact on the overall chart. VERY NEAT!

I think the reason the chart is short is that they consider any song older than 52 weeks to be recurrent and don't include it on the chart. Since we just started adding "new" music for the most part, we just don't have enough to round out the whole chart. We'll get there in a few weeks though
