When you're back up, JR, if you can see what your public IP is, email me what that is and I'll update the firewall at the server to make the connection work again. Email will come to my cell phone so I'll get it quicker.
Thanks Web, but the IP didn't change! Yeesh, it's practically static huh? It's gone a long time without changing.
EVERYTHING is new, all the wiring outside, all the wiring inside. I'm excited to see if it gives me better performance. The guy said the signal on all connections was very low when he got here, that's why he decided to redo it all.
Let's see if that takes care of the drop out problem too. I've gone through two songs so far with no drop out.
I wanted to ask you, JR. In what you've found for Internet streaming, what's the cheapest stream provider you've found? I was thinking about putting our Sunday morning sermons on a live stream from church. I can't imagine we'd have more than 10 listening to start with. Live365 wants $75/month which is pretty expensive for only one hour a week to just a few listeners.
Have you found other streaming providers in your Internet travels?
Web, the one I use for the 32k line on Myspace is only $12.00 a month for 20 simultaneous listeners (I think that's the bare minimum you can get, although maybe they have a 10 listeners for $7.50 or something like that).
I think I just figured out how to do this with my existing servers. I downloaded the free SHOUTcast server software and installed it. Next I installed the Winamp plugins for SHOUTcast and I can hear myself streaming live over the web. Since I already have the server and bandwidth available . . . cost = $0.00 . . . gotta like that!
This is way cool. It works perfectly. I will now be able to stream our Sunday morning sermons live over the web. I'll not do this tomorrow, but might give it a try next weekend. Maybe I'll ask a few of you to tune in next Sunday morning and just let me know how it sounds. I won't force you to listen to a whole sermon if you don't want.
