My s and I love to go. We go once every 3-4 months. My goal is to get over 100. I usually average about a 120. My highest score ever was like a 178. What about you guys? Any other bowlers out there. I don't have my own ball or shoes or anything. It's just something fun to do with the family on the weekends for us.
As I put in the other post... My high Game is 269, & my high Series is 714 (3 games). I took a bowling class in college (to fulfill the HYPR requirement) & they showed me how to throw...It wasn't too much different than the way I normally threw, just a bit of refinement. I was throwing a full fingered 12 LB ball.
My High game at the time was a 200. I averaged around 117. I joined a league & one of the other guys in the league said I had a good delivery but my equipment sucked. He made me change from a plastic ball to a composite ball (reacts differently to the lane...instead of slideing through the oil on the lane like a house ball, it actually grips the lane), jumped up to the maximum 16 lbs(better pin reaction), Reactive ball (the core is off center helping with curve) & I went with a fingertip way of holding it ( adds spin to the ball with natural delivery)
I threw the new ball the exact same way I threw my old ball, & the sucker hooked. I'd never thrown a hook. A little change to where I started my throw, & I was making strikes all the time... My average jumped from 117 to 165 in one season, just because of a change in my ball. I currently average 173 in one league & 190 in another ( the first league is a harder set of lanes)
If you are averaging 120, go to a pro shop, get a good ball, & throw the same way...you'll be amazed how much better you are, & friends will think you have been sandbagging.
And I repeat again...I really do suck at bowling!! I still can't believe I tore a hamstring bowling!! Hey, there is no tenpin bowling in my town. Have to drive for 12 hours along an unsealed road to get to the nearest bowling alley...so i suppose my game is not going to get any better now!!

Yeah...I actually needed a filler class, I had 11 credits left to take in my final semestar before student teaching...you needed 12 to be a full time student....I'd put in a TON of hours in my previous years, so instead of taking ANOTHER tough course I didn't need, I rewarded myself & took a 1 credit blow off course to get the needed 12 credits.
I think at IU, a "blow off" course is required. I know people who've taken classes like the history of the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix. But the most infamous one is Underwater Basket Weaving.
