Jules- sure enough Australia ringin in the new year was one of the top stories this morning in the local online news....

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Wind-swept revelers gathered around London's Big Ben to watch the fireworks, and thousands of Japanese climbed Mount Fuji and other peaks to watch the first sunrise of the New Year. But the Thai capital sent celebrants home after a series of evening bombs.

Police estimated a million people crammed the shore in Sydney, one of the world's first major cities to greet the New Year, for the fireworks and daylong festivities, some staking their claims to the best view before dawn Sunday and pitching tents in case of rain.

Fireworks explode over the Sydney Harbor Bridge in the annual display to celebrate the New Year in Sydney, Monday, Jan. 1, 2007. Organizers claimed it to be the largest fireworks display ever seen over the harbor of Australia's largest city in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the bridge's opening on March 2007. Happy New Year everyone! Allycat gets off in about an hour and then we are going to the store to get stuff to make chili, then it's back home to the comforts of our own living room to watch Pirates of the Carribean, Deadman's Chest.

Be safe all who are going out.

Well, I had hoped one of of friends would have a party, but no one is. But, a friend of a friend is playing a show tonight that we got invited to. But Brian doesn't feel like going out, so it looks like we'll be at home. I think I have a few bottle rockets in the closet, I may fire a couple of them off.

Happy New Year everyone!  2007 kicked off with a giant bang for me!  I played guitar and sang for everyone last night, amongst having fire twirlers and fire eaters putting on a show in the yard as well!  Great night...but not a well little cookie today!  Is now 12.38pm New Years Day and I have just got myself out of bed....sore sore throat from singing, sore wrists from playing guitar but I had the best time!  Hope you all enjoy(ed) your celebrations!

Still four hours away here Jules but AC and I are jamming to FFR and getting ready to eat her famous chili. Glad to hear you had a great night. Did the weather cooperate for you? How many people were there? I have two guitars, one electric, one acoustic. I still dink around on them but never really learned how to play. Someday maybe!

Hey Sparky,

The weather was perfect last night...except for 5am when it started raining!

And I played to about 40 people last night...very enjoyable!  I only have my battered old acoustic guitar that I have been lugging about for 17 years...but it plays well!  Very appreciative audience!  Great great night!

Get your instruments out and have a play!  So good for the soul!

I still find it funny that you are living in 2006 right now!
