"My Obsession" requested..."Nothing too Serious" plays instead!
Not that I don't mind the song!
Ahhh...Aussie rockers from the past! Still can't believe I have the vinyl copy!

I have some promo flats from it, which is pretty weird, too.

Ha! I have a friend who has found awesome promo stuff by dumpster diving by a local radio station. Where did you go?
I got all mine from working at record stores. I could never throw any of that stuff out. Even if I didn't like the artist, I couldn't bear to get rid of it, because I know how I'd feel if somewhere someone was throwing away perfectly good & rare promo stuff of an artist I loved!

I ALWAYS wanted a job in a record store just to avoid the indignity of my dumpster dives
I can tell you that more than once I was greated by a garbage truck crew giving me the evil eye
I usually made the rounds three days a week at two of our local Mainstream Records and one little place called Solar Eclipse Records. I'd get up at about 3 AM and bike around to the three places, usually returning around 5 or 6 AM. My two saddle bags on the bike would be loaded with crap, posters rolled up and bungy corded to the bike rack. On a REALLY good day I'd have an arm-full of stuff too and be steering one-handed back home
Very fond memories.
I pretty much got a full three years worth of "Billboard", "Cash Box" and "Radio & Records"magazines that way too! Although they were a week old by the time I got em'. But I didn't care.

My first job was in a record store, and before I worked here, I was working part-time in one, so you could say it was my last job (before this) too. And when the Refreshments "Fizzy Fuzzy..." album came out, we'd love to play it and sing along with "Maybe I was never cool enough to get a job at a record store."
That's so awesome that you used to do the dumpster dive! (Got any cool promo left-overs on say... Stryper or Hanson or anyone else whose name my empty wallspace call out to at night?)
A week old magazine is still quite current. And think of the $ you saved on subscription fees. Heck, I'm sure once you scraped the tomatoe sauce off of 'em, they were good as new!
