The In.........Thread

In 1987 I was 17 yrs old and was a junior in highschool. I had a lot of fun, a lot of different groups of friends to hang with. One fun memory was that my buddy Tony had a Vespa that could seat two, so I'd hang on in back and we would just cover miles and miles on that thing....quicker than a public bus, slower than a bicycle.

coffee shops & record stores!!

in 1987 we'd often go to the 4 pm non-drinking shows to bands like this, or to the beer parties where they were playing.

How fun is that, JD! It all sounds very Euro-hip. {{lol}} You must've had some fun adventures! Tell me, how did you and your buddy cruise for chicks on that thing? {{lol}}

In 1987, I was the horrific age of 15 and a sophmore. Couldn't drive yet, started working as a hostess at Denny's, and I had mall hair (ouch!). I listened to Janet Jackson, Prince, Poison, Motley Crue and the Beastie Boys to name a few. I had, by that time, decided I was too cool to be on the Warhawk Pom Pom Squad anymore. And boys FINALLY got taller than me! {{lol}} Wow, thank goodness that's over with!

1987 fun facts:

Baby Jessica falls into a well October 14th, 1987.

Lenny Kravitz marries Lisa Bonet.

Liberace dies of AIDS but refuses to admit he has it.

PTL Evangelist Jim Bakker admits to affair with Jessica Hahn.

Michael Jackson attempts to buy the bones of The Elephant Man.

Vanna White can be seen everywhere including lingerie ads in Playboy, and her new book Vanna Speaks.

Bruce Willis weds Demi Moore.

Condom commercials can be seen on tv for the first time.

Hot Toys: Koosh balls, Jenga, Couch Potato Dolls & talking Pee Wee Herman Dolls.

Fox airs first episode of Married With Children.

Johnny Depp gets his start on a show called 21 Jump Street.

The Simpsons!

"Faith" by George Michael was # hit of the year.

Tiffany tours America’s shopping malls.

Best Video of the Year: "Sledgehammer" Peter Gabriel.

Shelley Long's character Diane leaves Cheers.

Top Grossing Movie of 1987: Three Men and a Baby.

Cher takes home Best Actress Oscar for Moonstruck and Michael Douglas gets the Best Actor Oscar for Wall Street.

The battle of the "Corey's" begins - Feldman and Haim.

Sonny and Cher reunite on David Letterman.

In '87?

Went to Minneapolis MN. U of M to meet a buddy who lived on campus. His sister had a place a couple miles away. She asked him to watch it while she was out of town. Bad idea. Yep, Beastie Boys on the stereo of the 1979 2 door Corolla my girlfriend had. Five and a half hours of chain smoking and driving (or was it the other way around?)

Cutesy part: we got married. Me & the girl!!!

In 1987 Kaisha had just turned 1 on 12/31/86 so I looked like this.  And looked about as young as this girl here too.

In 1987 I turned 27, got married, bought a house, and worked for an accounting firm.

In 1978 I graduated from high school, turned 18 and got to legally drink for 41 days (the drinking age here in MI went back up to 21 on January 1, 1979.  I had to wait another 3 years before I could get served again.)

Squonk-

Copy and paste from an internet page....if its a personal pic not already posted on the net, you can go to a photo-hosting site like photobucket.com or snapfish.com and upload the photo there for free and pretty easily. then once its uploaded, you can copy and paste into your thread!

thats the key tho- in order to work, the photo must exist out on the internet somewhere, not from your hard-drive.

In 1987 I was a junior in high school and they made me wear a daggy green beret worn on a perky angle, red and green striped tie and horrible green and white uniform.  I felt like a friggen Christmas Tree!  1987 was a not a good self esteem year.

In 1987 I was still rocking out to Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Sex Pistols and such while my peers got into Bon Jovi...oh God...Living on a Prayer, Mel n Kim and music like that...they thought I was weird because I got into rock and punk!  And everyone was "Walkin' the Dinosaur"...'cept for me!  But this is from an Australian perspective!

But still what a year!  1987 was the year we moved to Bondi Beach in Sydney!  And bleached hair...whiter than white was oh so in!!  Everyone was dipping their hair in home bleach here!  I had very white blonde hair...which I now look back and cringe at big time!

Me too! And in the first grade! But I didn't get my first boyfriend until the next year. His name was Brian and he had blond spiked hair. I liked him because he made me laugh, even when I was having a bad day. He walked me home from school every day.

Nope, I'm the youngin' of the regulars (though I try not to make it obvious). Out of all the forum members, I think Pip's daughter is the youngest, then Kaisha, then Myndi.
