oh I so came to this thread to say Cape Fear, Sandy!! That one ruined our night- we were thinking of going out for drinks after the film, that one, just wanted to go home and crawl into bed after that for like a day!!! ruined the evening!!!

Another one like that for me was a film called Prince of Darkness that starred ALice Cooper. ANother one, sitting there after the film in a coffee shop, hands shaking so bad from being freaked out....

The original Amityville Horror scared the pants off me!!!  That was the scariest movie I have ever watched.

Ooh, I need to rent that one. I think Neil Gaiman had some hand in it. I know there's a graphic novel that Alice Cooper and Neil Gaiman collaborated on. It's wonderfully dark.

I checked, and it doesn't look like Neil Gaiman had anything to do with it. But the graphic novel is called Last Temptation and it goes with Alice Cooper's album. Neil Gaiman can get pretty spooky though too.

Wow, there's so many. Of course, The Shining chills me every time, but I think the Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby are pretty exquisite horror, too. The new Dawn of the Dead scared me terribly, which those usually don't bother me anymore. Psychological thrillers...The Game was superb!

"The Sixth Sense" is a good one for psychological thriller.

Yes, The Sixth Sense was a good one. I also like The Ring and The Others.

Hey Thumper, Loved "Misery".  "Carrie", Omen, Exorcist, and "Blair Witch" would make my list too.  It the Satanic stuff that gives me the most heebie jeebies.

I still say the original Amityville Horror is the worst for me!!!  Scared the living daylights out of me!  I didn't sleep for days after seeing it.  I still can't bring myself to watch it again.  I'm such a wuss!

You ever see "Constantine" or "The Devil's Advocate"??  They're both pretty good when it comes to satanic stuff.

This may be weird, but "Red Dawn" scared the bejeebies out of me.  At the time it came out, the Russians were our biggest enemy and I could really envision it happening.  I was planning my survival strategy for when the invasion came.
