Flood-ravaged North Queenslanders are now preparing for two cyclones.
Tropical Cyclone Nelson is moving through the Gulf of Carpentaria and should cross the Cape York coast tomorrow.
East of Cairns, another low is expected to become the region's second cyclone by tomorrow morning.
Clouds from both systems continue to dump torrential rain across the state's north.
This morning, Tropical Cyclone Nelson was declared.
The storm was travelling eastward through the Gulf of Carpentaria.
It should intensify and cross the western Cape York coast tomorrow and then deliver even more heartache for the Far North.
"Tomorrow afternoon and Thursday, Friday, we should see some heavier falls," the Weather Bureau's Alicia Duncanson said.
That rain will flood already swollen rivers.
The bureau is also monitoring another low, about 200km off Cairns, which is expected to become a cyclone tomorrow.
It should move away from the coast, but cyclones are unpredictable.
"It does have the potential, if it does turn into a tropical cyclone, it does become a bit more chaotic and it could turn around," Ms Duncanson told 7News.
Residents are picking through bare shelves to find cyclone supplies.

Good Tuesday morning all. The weekend turned into a four day weekend for me due to schools being closed because of the bitter wind chills......I took advantage of it and slept in until 10:00 this morning ......a rare occurrence for me since I'm usually up by 6:30 every morning. My internet connection seems to be working better today......couldn't get online most of the day yesterday; cable gets touchy when it's really cold. Anyway just thought I'd drop in and wish you all a great day!!
