In the last few months I've overheard people telling some pretty big lies on their cell phones, most notably at the Casino.

I think it was December when I saw a woman at the casino using a pay phone.  As I walked by I heard her say to whoever she was talking to in a somewhat desperate voice "I know baby, I'm out looking for apartments right now".  That one made me sad, figuring the security deposit had probably just been donated to the Indians.

But today at the local food store I was walking in behind a woman who said into her cell phone "Yeah I know, I'm on-line at the checkout right now".  The woman hadn't even stepped foot in the store yet!  She hung up the phone, got a cart and started her shopping.

Anyone else have any good examples of folks telling white lies that struck you as kind of funny (usually because they're so obvious)?
