Favorite thing at a Chinese restaurant?

We had Chinese last night and I realized that I am not very adventurous- fear of eating Sparky's relatives I think. But anyway, I got Shrimp and Broccoli instead of my usual Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. It was good but I wanna know what else is good. My husband had Lo Mein- yuck, did not like the noodles.

Dim sum is really the best - there's a wide variety of small plate items to pick from in the early afternoon, and it's oh so yummy! If yuo like fried food, try the General Tso's Chicken, Honey Chicken, or Coconut Shrimp dishes. Mmmmm! Tea Duck is really good too if it is made correctly.

Some of these do not sound familiar, but delicious! I might need to stop at another one!

This is why I prefer buffet, then I can have a little of everything.  I love Chinese food.  I miss it so much, I need to figure out how to make some of this stuff at home.

My favorite all depends on the restuarant.  At Dragon, I usually get pork fried rice and an egg roll and dip it in sweet & sour sauce.  At Mandarin Buffet, my favorite is the peanut chicken.  At Mark Pi's, I get General Tsao's chicken.  No matter where I go, I always get crab rangoon!  I also love chinese dumplings, szchwan beef, chicken and broccoli...  Basically, the only things I don't like are egg drop soup and lo mein.  I'll eat the lo mein at a buffet and just get a little, but I don't know what it is, I just can't eat a lot of it.

Have you ever noticed that the "default" fried rice that comes with everything is pork fried rice?  Doesn't pork seem an unusual thing to be so common?  Do they even raise pigs in China?  Pork's pretty expensive compared to beef or chicken.  I'm convinced "pork" is the chinese word for "dog."

San Choy Bow, Chicken Soong, Kung Pao Chicken...oh god...I love everything!  I haven't got favourites!  But I always try and have something new every single time!  I just don't eat pork anything though!

We usually only do the buffet for lunch.

I usually have some beef & mushroom over rice and some chunks of meat on a stick that they label as "Chicken Teriyaki". Then a few crab rangoons and some egg rolls dipped in sweet/sour sauce.

I like the Hot & Sour soup.  I also like General Tao's Chicken.  Both are hot and spicy.

Personally, I like orange peel beef and of course, egg rolls. I don't eat much Chinese out, I must admit. No one I dine with cares for it.

I wouldn't mind having the restaurant owner say to me at the end of a nice, big meal- "It's on the House."  Now that'd be a favorite.

When I was about 18 my girlfriends and I would go to this Chinese restaurant becase we got served there.  We'd order this HUGE drink that had 5 straws in it and it was loaded with all kinds of liquor.  I have no idea what it even was.  We were so excited about that, though.

Memories of a Chinese restaurant.

This reminds me . . .

A friend of mine works for a Cable/Telephone company. He and one of his coworkers went out for lunch at a Chinese buffet. My friend said that this other guy is a big guy and can eat A LOT.

He said that after a few trips back to the buffet, a Chinese man came out from the back, went up to his coworker and in a heavy Chinese accent said: "You must go now. You eat too much."

That reminds me of a chinese buffet I used to go to.  They had signs that said something about if you don't eat the food you get, you'll be expected to pay extra!

They do that at one of our buffet type Indian restaurants too. if you waste loads they charge you extra at the end...It deters wastage considerably...
