I'm working on some updates to the server that holds the request list and now playing pages.
To do these, I will have to reboot the server. If you find these pages unavailable for a bit, don't panic, I'm on it.
With a little luck this will only be about 3 minutes during the reboot . . . but things can go wrong. This is the last of four servers that need this done and no major issues on the other three so hopefully this one will go smoothly too.
The updates are downloading and installing now, when they are done I'll pull the reboot trigger.
Waiting for a server to come back up when you change the bottom layer of software is stressful. I need a drink. I think I'll have a soda.
Now, JR's new daylight savings time change will be correct on the server.
I still have more software updates to do. They will put a load on the server and over the next hour or so and it might seem a little sluggish when creating pages for ya, but the really scary updates were part of the one I just did.
Unless something pops up that I'm not seeing, we're all done. Servers all updated, latest security patches installed and good to go for another few months. Updated the spam and avitvirus blocking tools as well.
I had a server crash Sunday morning. It turned out to be a power supply gone bad. That server had not even been rebooted for 335 days. Yes, almost one year of living in a hostile internet environment without even a reboot.
