Easy way to buy NON-RIAA music!

For any who are interested, this website....

http://www.riaaradar.com/

Works in conjunction with FireFox to help you determine which CD's are subject to RIAA rules and which are not when shopping on Amazon.com.

There are some fairly popular artists that are not part of the RIAA mafia.

Just a tool I thought I'd pass along.

In my mind Cheese this is now a personal war for me.

Not because of the station.  That's part of it, but it's just the final straw.

These bastards have been pushing around the music consumer for too long and I've had enough.

They represent the five big labels and try to tell me that I can't make a copy of a CD to give to a friend.  I find this ironic when you consider Sony is one of the biggest labels crying the blues and yet they have an entire electronics side of their business that pushes every kind of CD burner and MP3 player imaginable!

The cowards hide behind the artists and say it's in their best interest and yet artist after artist will tell you they see next to nothing for their efforts unless they get so popular that they can dictate their own contracts.

I came across a great article about Weird Al Yankovic today that detailed specifically how these greedy SOB's are getting even richer off of digital downloading at the expense of the artists.  I'll have to see if I can find it and repost it here.

I hate em' SG, HATE EM'!

They operate too much like PETA for my blood, seemingly thining any press is good press for their cause.

Remember a few years ago when they tried to tell the girl scouts they couldn't sing campfire songs that were protected by their organization without paying a royalty?!?!

This organization is riddled with crazy attempts like that to extract every last penny under the guise of "fair use".

In their perfect world you would NEVER own your music.  They don't even want you to play it in the company of others because that constitutes "performance" and they should be entitled to additional royalties for that!

Of course, they don't go after every Tom, Dick (well most of the Dicks actually WORK for them) and Harry, but every so often they will just to make a splash in the press and remind us all they're watching us.
