Late Nite "AS SEEN ON TV" Product Purchases?

I'm crawling around the floor looking for urine spots now!   With my little black light it looks like CSI: Freeze-Frame in my living room!

Anyone else have any of these purchases?  Good products?  Bad Products?  Scams?

Tell us your stories!

"For Pet OR People Accidents"

Please don't correct me JR, but I will just assume its all pet stains.

And no, I've never purchased anything from the late night infomercials.

I like watch all those ads but never buy anything because you just know it's gonna be a heap of crap when you get it!

This was really my Mom's thing. She used to just watch HSC and stuff. Not necessarily late at night though. I know she gave us the Smart Spin. I sorta like it. I just don't like cleaning them by hand because things get stuck in the corners of the containers. I don't have a dishwasher.

You know what happens when you assume Web

Usually my aim is true, but those mid-night bathroom runs where you don't open your eyes during the entire trip...  Well, those might be a different story.

I have to admit I bought this one.  I waited til it came to Walgreens, and you got two of em' for $9.99.  It worked surprisingly well.  You just put the egg in one side and then nuked it with it closed.

The eggs never burned, just like they promised, but they also didn't get done as quickly as they said and I was never totally comfortable that it had cooked thoroughly enough because it seemed like parts would be runny until I pretty much over-cooked it.

Still, all in all, this is one of the few AS SEEN ON TV products that I really liked.

Oh I just remembered one!! This was so funny! My father-in-law bought the Eggstractor. It was something that was supposed to take the shell off of hard-boiled eggs. It was so funny when they tried it out! We all crying because it was such a disaster. It was taking 10 times as long as if you were to peel it by hand! you got like 1 in every 10 to work or something.

I remember seeing the commercials for that one and thinking it looked so cool.

How do you think they manage to get the stuff to work so well on the air?

The foremen grill had a 30 minute infomercial for awhile and they'd always show the guy putting cheese on the burgers and then closing the grill.

He'd let it sit for a few minutes and when he opened it the cheese had perfectly melted on the burgers, dripping nicely down the sides, they looked perfect.

I've tried that a dozen times it's always a disaster!  Usually the cheese sticks to the top grill and when I open it the burgers are stuck to the top, then the either slowly drop with strings of cheese hanging or they plunge directly down and either splatter grease everywhere or fall on the floor

I've tried using PAM on the top grill, and that works to a degree, you can shut it for a few seconds and open it, the cheese doesn't stick.  But anything over about 10 seconds and the cheese all drains off and starts sticking to everything.

SO HOW DO THEY DO IT ON TV?!?

Woo, I just checked asseenontv.com and they no longer offer the eggstractor

I found this though...

This is one the folks had to buy    If I recall it worked pretty well, but as is often the case they never mention the mess it creates.

The inside of the microwave would be splattered with grease, and even if you coverd it with a paper towel to avoid that the item itself was disgusting after a few uses.

I never eat bacon cus I know it's so bad for ya and I figure it's something I don't really miss.

But I'm going food shopping today and suddenly I have an urge for some bacon!

They sell a personal sized claw machine on the site!

WHY THE HELL WOULD I WANT THAT FRUSTRATION IN MY OWN HOME!?!?

I bet it would be ten minutes before I tore the top off and just grabbed what I wanted!

The Ab Slider was pretty popular. We got one and I saw that my Mom had one. Ours is pretty dusty and let's just say that my mom could have a room with excercise equipment that she has bought from tv-starting with that Suzanne Somers Thigh Buster thing!

here's the Ab Slider

The only thing that comes close is Bare Minerals and I bought that off QVC and Proactiv, but I get that stuff off ebay now if I buy it.

I am thinking I have some stuff that I bought at a store, but none come to mind. They usually turn out to be crap!

When I buy this stuff, it's usually from the store.

My mom got the bacon wave, because she insists on microwaving bacon. That thing got so nasty. The plastic bubbled from the grease, and my mom insisted on washing it and using it again.

I got the molecular hair setter in the 80's. That actually worked pretty well at putting my hair in all curls, but it actually got it too curly, if that makes any sense. (I'd take the curler out and my hair would still be in the exact shape of the curler!) I'd still get it out and use it every so often. I got it out a month ago for the wedding, but all the foam from the curlers were disintegrating. So I threw the curlers away but kept the steamer part.

I also tried a couple of the hair removal things, the spray on stuff and Nads. I still prefer shaving or waxing. The spray on stuff worked, but I had to sit with it on for forever, and then I used almost the whole bottle. Nads sucks. It's messy and gloopy and just pulls at the hairs, not out.

But, I do use Bare Minerals and love them!

oh man I forgot about the hair setter! My mom had one, but it didn't work for my hair. Well it wouldn't stay curled!

Nads does suck!!!

I've always kind of though of QVC as a "step above" the 3:00am infomercial stuff, but I still at the sales pitches.

"This new Acer computer system has EVERYTHING you will ever need. For example, look at this right here on the keyboard . . . Can we zoom in on this guys? . . . Look right here, see this key? That is the . . . are you ready for this? You're going to love this! This is going to make your life so much better than it ever was before . . . that is the Backspace key. Oh, this thing is soooo cool. Let's say you're typing in the email to your grandkids and you make a mistake. Nothing major, just a little typing mistake. It happens to all of us, so if you are new to computers, don't feel bad when it happens to you, you can do this! If that does happen to you, you can press this little key right here, and that mistake is gone. Yes GONE! Just like that! As if it never even happened! Isn't that amazing!?!? Now, you might expect to pay extra for a Backspace key like this one . . . NO! Not here at QVC and Acer . . . We include the backspace key at NO ADDITIONAL COST and we put it RIGHT IN THE KEYBOARD! Oh yes, this one little key will make your life so much better and you will be such a more well rounded person. You need this now and we've got it for you right here at QVC.

No, where did I leave my credit card?

Oh we bought the Miracle Blades II
They work real nice. SO nice it caused me to have to take my husband to the ER!

Seriously they are nice except for the fillet nice which is kinda worthless.

Oh, I want this:

It's an underwater digital camera.  The last time I went snorkeling, I bought a disposable underwater camera that didn't work right.  Next time I go, I want to be sure it works.

But seriously around here at night on cable channels like Comedy Central and Spike they have commercials that are like informercials and show WAY too much for my liking!

lol, my husband always jokes about that one! "Honey you gonna buy that for me?"
I'm pretty lenient about that stuff though. It doesn't usually bother me. But then he doesn't abuse my kindness either.
