Request System Down

About 11 minutes ago the cable company that provides our broadband appears to have changed our ISP dramatically from what it had been.

The result is that you can no longer connect to the request system.

We'll have to wait until Webguy is around to change the IP address on his end.  I've already PM'd the new IP to him.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I don't think its all the firewall. I allowed the IP but still no go. I turned the firewall off and it still didn't connect.

I suspect the dynamic DNS. When I do a host look up on the dynamic dns name I'm unable to find the IP for the host name.

Dangit.

That's not good.

I didn't touch anything on my end.  We had a drop where all listners disconnected for just a few seconds and when they came back we were on a new IP.

Maybe I should try rebooting here and see if that helps.

I figured it out web.

I still needed to update the no-ip.info redirect that we use.

It's all back now

Coolio.

I did have to change the IP in the firewall too.

In the past I had kept the no-ip software running on the computer, and it would auto-update in a situation like this.  So we'd just need you to make the change.

But it's been so long since there was a problem I stopped running it, I wasn't even sure if it was needed anymore.  I guess I got my answer.

I now see that there is a new feature in the firewall software. I can give it the dynamic dns address and it will check every 10 minutes for the ip and if the ip changes, it will allow it.

If it works like it should, then an IP change shouldn't block the request system more than 10 mintues.
