I've been to plenty of bars, but I can't judge from that.  I live in a college town, so most of the jerks in the bars are college boys with short hair that look like all the rest of the college boys.

And location is probably a huge factor. Most guys here are bikers, rednecks or college kids. We also have a large snobby crowd and tourists, but overall not a great mix of men! The racial mix is also a lot different here than where I grew up. Whites are about 50-60%


LS- if my hubby and I don't make it- I might take you up on that!

Heather the odds are good in Weipa!  75% male to 25% women!

I'm hiding from them all and claim to be haha 'taken' just to keep them at bay!!!

I have no interest in men here though they are very good hearted here and earn a boatload of money and just want a good woman to look after.

Head to Weipa for some outback eye candy!

Hahaha...man there is the daggiest ad campaigns with guys with lonely puppy dog eyes wishing they had someone to love up here!  Maybe hoping to grip the heartstrings of women and bring them flocking here if they knew there was a shortage of women going here.  Community tv station always plays the ads that circulate through Queensland here.  LOL I should try and get hold of a copy to show you all.  You'll laugh.

LOL...I claim him to be from out of town and that I'm here to work!  Too easy but I still have them lining up!  Just easier for me to work, go on trips and study art alot and keep myself away from them all.

The single scene...well we don't have singles bars and such.  Bars here are not like what you find in the city (and there are only 3 bars)!  I actually sit on a deck of a bar and just play a guitar or sketch.  You can do your thing at the bar without anyone looking at you weird.  I tend to get an audience alot because of what I do.  Sing and play guitar.  But there are poetry groups, writers and such that hang out at the pubs as well.

But no...in the end there is no single scene but this is a small town and you just in run into single men everywhere.

I suppose that is one of the beautiful things of Weipa and one to be grateful for.  This place is so down-to-earth.  No commercialism or society bull crap to put up with!

Oh yes, be happy you have that! I miss that social element from my days in a small town. I love the city and all its diversity, but the social pretenses can be annoying and tiring.

In Indy, there's a singles club called High Life Adventures where they take trips, go white water rafting, go to museums, stuff like that. Almost makes me wish I was single just so I could go along!
