I like racing but I would rather be there than watch it on tv. May watch just parts of it, but I don't schedule it in.

I don't know why, I've never enjoyed racing. I find it pretty boring to watch.

I hate it, but go to the races and sometimes watch. My hubby watches each one, pays to listen to their in car radios through his phone and there is a show EVERYDAY about the sport on some channel.

I am in redneck hell!

J-

I felt that way until I went to my first race....the smell of the rubber, the hugeness of the roar of the engines and seeing the guys going 190+ MPH3-4 inches from each other just draws ya in (Isaw my first race in Daytona by the way).  Then doing the ridealong at the Richard Petty Driving Experience (140 MPH at the Walt Disney World Track) made me realize what good athletes (yes athletes) the drivers are.  It was tiring just being a passenger!  We go the Daytona twice a year (Pepsi 400 in July and Bud Shootout in Feb.) and make a day out of it.....it's no longer just a red neck sport!

I went to one race as a kid at the Milwaukee Mile, though it wasn't Nascar.

I remember the heart thumping sound of the engines roaring by my turn, and the amazing rush of heat as the cars passed by (it was like an 80 degree day and we still got hit with a huge heat wave everytime they passed by).

I also recall the black soot from their tires pelting me each time they came around. When I got home I looked like I worked in a coal mine, and I was seeing black everytime I blew my nose for the next week!

The closest I came to getting into racing of any kind as an adult was when Danica Patrick was making a splash, and that was just the curiosity factor.

This didn't help you get into racing.....wait till Danica goes to NASCAR in a year or two...she'll be even bigger....BTW - Indy car racing isn't as fun inperson as NASCAR in my humble opinion (I went to two Indy Car races a few years ago!)

Been my fav driver since he drove the Valvoline 6 car at least 10 years!  He klive in Daytona Beach (so he's a local guy to us) and a great person at that...and yes, he's taking this week AND next off...only racing 23 or 24 of the 36 races!

My Pa-In-Law is a die hard Nascar fan, I watch it with him when I am at his house. I do like racing but like any sport I don't HAVE to watch it.

I used to like it, but I can't sit through a whole race without getting bored. I prefer drag racing, over in 5 seconds, perfect for the short attention span! All kidding aside, I like the camaraderie between the drag racers better. The atmosphere is different, like it's one huge family, where NASCAR seems so commercial. I also like some of the Indy Car road races, it spices it up a little rather than just driving in an oval, and I like the international aspect of it, but I still don't get into it that much.
