It's ironic. Everyone likes to b*tch and moan about broadcast radio being too narrowly defined, yet the vast majority flock to the crap because they don't like the variety of a station like ours. They hear two songs in a row they don't recognize and switch back to someone else.

Those are just the uncool people...  not us!

You're right! They don't know what they're missing.

Unfortunately the world is full of uncool peoplle :(

The thing is, I TOTALLY get it. Until I was about 33 or 34 I NEVER would have listened to a station like this. I liked what I liked and didn't want to hear anything else. So I get why they're leaving, but it's frustrating.

Our first two years, when we had your basic Adult Contemporary playlist, we were growing at a superfast pace.

We went from broadcasting to 5 people to 150 people in a steady growth pattern. Since we expanded the playlist to include pretty much all music other than rap and heavy metal we've seen those numbers slowly drop to a ranger of 25 - 45 and they're still dropping.

JD likes to think it's because of iPods, but I don't buy that. I can see the numbers fluctuating everyday. We have people tuning in for 10 minutes, hearing something they don't like and leaving all day long.

Now with the RIAA crap, and Live365 making some changes, we're seeing overnight numbers and weekend numbers in the low SINGLE digits!

Maybe we worried too much about having the plug pulled on us, instead we should have been worried about dying on the vine
