Not that this matters to anyone but me, but...

I'm a fan of statistics of any sort, and I was looking over the numbers from my CD collection again.

It amazes me that as big of a fan of 80's music I was, and as much as I did not care for music of the 90's, only ONE year of the eighties makes my Top 10  most purchases.

I know a lot of my 1990's CD's were greatest hit's from the 80's, but still.

Also telling, the highest any year from 2000 or later managed to get was 8'th.

Cool chart ya got there JR!! smile  I don't have the time to break mine down by years.....I just break it down by genres then alphabetize them.  Good thing my husband and I don't share the same taste in music cuz he sorts his by first name, I use last name.  My cd collection is way bigger than his, but he has more on vinyl than I do......I sold most of my vinyls when cds came on the market.

Oh trust me Ghost, I don't have the patience to put together a chart like that.

That's generated from a software program I use to catalog my music.

It's really pretty cool, I can get breakdowns by just about anything, easily over 100 different categories.

If I wanted to take the time to enter info like where i bought the music, what I paid, etc, it would even keep track of all that and give me a bunch of stats on it.

I could also link all the info in the catalog to the actual MP3 file, but since I have in the neighborhood of about 100,000 songs, I don't think I want to do that biggrin.gif

I can feel ya on that first name/last name thing too!  On the station we have to sort by first name, which I think stinks.  On the software I do it by last name.  This is the saem software that auto-generates the CD list we have on our main page.

actually, I see two years in the top 10, 86 and 89, of course, 89 is practically 90's in a lot of ways, haha

D'oh!  You're right!

I think I'm conditioned to think of 1989 as part of the 90's.

To me, the "eighties sound" really was only from about 1982 - 1987.

The early 80's had a disco hangover, and the late eighties saw rap & grunge starting to poke their annoying little heads in hmm.gif

I might as well post the bottom of the chart too.  I think most of those albums at the bottom were added to the collection by JD on his trips to the library for old Jazz albums!

Although I do have a lot of old Sinatra and stuff, so that might be it too.
