Over a half a million sold already!!!!!  weirdface.gif

At $399 and $599 I didn't think they'd sell that many so fast!

Yeesh!

Yeah I know!  The web surfing on that thing looks incredible!  Real, FULL pages, not just some goofy "made-for-your-phone" version of a web page.

Ten years ago I would have been in line the first day to get one.

Now I've learned to let others buy the version with all the glitches.  I'll get mine in a year when they've fixed all the little problems and dropped the price 30 - 50%

Yeah, but don't count on the prices going down...this has a strong enough market and is bult for a product longevity that will last at least a couple years...like PS2 and such it will not decline in price significantly unless it becomes a total piece of crap in terms of market viability, and that's not too likely to happen.

I'm hoping they just get greedy.

A lot of people won't spend that much for a phone.  Every phone that's come before it has dropped to the point of being FREE if you get a service plan.  Even the Razr started out at $400 and is now included with a service plan.

I know iPhone is an MP3 player, web surfing device, etc.  But the truth is so were the other phones.  Heck, my last cell phone did ALL of that, just not as neatly.

They'll sell a ton of them, but they WILL get to a point where sales slow because they've sold to all the folks willing to pay that price.

Then they'll set their focus on that group of people who refuse to pay over $200 for a phone, and say "gee, that's a big bump in sales if we can get to them".

I bet by Christmas of this year you're seeing deals where if you take the two year contract you can get em for 299 and 499.

By christmas next year 149 and 299.

That's my predicition.  MARK IT DOWN!  Hold me accountable!  (Unless I'm wrong, then this thread will have been mysteriously deleted).

There is one thing that makes me question this, JR. We are talking about Apple.

This is not your typical cell phone deal. This is an "Apple iPhone" and oh, by the way, it runs on the AT&T Network. You buy the phone through Apple, not AT&T. This is not "yet another phone" being sold by AT&T. This is the only case I'm aware of where the phone chose the network, not the network choosing the phone.

I don't think the iPhone will go down in price any more than the iPod has . . . its just not the Apple way.

Good point Web.

I suppose when they want to tap the poorer "sub-$400" market they'll introduce the iPhone nano hmm.gif

LOL

And, the iPhone Shuffle. You just push a button and it will randomly call one of your friends. You just have to keep hitting the button until you get the friend you want. AT&T will love the minute usage.
