Proper Brat Preparation

I've been on a brat binge lately.  Don't worry though, this is a HEALTHY brat binge.

It's the Chicken, Spinach & Asiago cheese brats.  Each one is only 140 calories and 2.5 grams of fat.  Which is nothing for a  brat.

I prefer them because they're all meat and spinach with a little cheese.  No fat like in a normal brat.

Anyway, the one thing I hate about brats is how they can be hard to bite, and often spray you in the face with hot brat juice when you do bite them.

So lately, before I cook or grill em' I've actually been slicing em' down the length of the brat, just deep enough to cut through the casing and then removing the casing.

This works REALLY well!  The brat stays together (I guess it's been packed long enough) and when you eat it there's none of that annoying sprayage or toughness.

Just thought I'd share.  Yes.  I'm bored today.  hmm.gif

Well, I'd hate if any of you were to have your faces horribly disfigured by a stream of boiling hot brat juice when I know a way to avoid it.  smile.gif

I found this pie chart that shows 10% of U.S. citizens have been burned by a stream of hot brat juice atleast once in their lives!

WE CAN PREVENT THIS PEOPLE!  REMOVE YOUR CASINGS!

I will usually boil mine first in beer, onions and brown mustard, and then just brown them real quick on the grill. usually I will let a bit of the casing burst to relieve pressure and scoop em on off then.

your brats sound good tho with all that stuff goin on in them!

I hear that Mexico has a big child labor shortage.
