I have a friend that recently got out of his own business. They got Nextel because they could then easily talk to each other. The first year was fine, but when the contract was up, Nextel jacked up the price by like double so they went back to Alltel.
Has anyone ever heard of "Viaero Wireless"? My wife's idiot coworker is going to be an office manager for them.
I had never heard of this company before early this year. They came in this spring and put up four new towers around here that I know of. They are really dumping money into their network.
There are basically two different kinds of cellular systems. All we've ever had around here before now is the "CDMA" system which is what Alltel and Verizon use. These guys are on the "GSM" system like what AT&T is on. Maybe they are thinking they will get roaming money or something because I can't think that they expect to take enough business away from the existing proivder out here in rural Nebraska to make the investment pay off.
Their data service is the "Edge" system (which is what the iPhone uses) and all the reviews I've read says it pretty much sucks compared to the "EVDO" data service we have now . . . so I won't be switching.
Well FINALLY I am giving Sprint/Nextel the half boot. My contract is not up til June, but I am getting two phones through Alltel Friday and getting rid of the hubby's phone. We are also taking our landline and going to make it one of the phones. I also read that Verizon is buying Alltel out on Friday, so we will see. We get a 15% discount on everything, inlcuding the bill from Alltel.
Of course everything else is falling, but I already committed to this....
That merger has been scheduled for a while. It will finally be completed this month. I can't wait because my friend on Alltel will be now considered in network.

I don't give Nextel my money either. PCS on the other hand... No, I don't give them any money either. They however are kind enough to give me free service. My network issues (if I ever have any) are resolved with rocket speed. The company that owns them is kind enough to provide me a half sized cubicle, healthcare, and a paycheck!

There are only two companies around here that have their own towers: Alltel, and Viaero.
I know Alltel works for me and overall they have been good so I'm not going to switch from something I know gets the job done to one I'm not sure about.
My unlimited is to in-network folks (which is most of my friends and family). As for those few friends that are other networks, my limit of 500 covers them.

Apparently you have never had my coffee! You should really be happy that I didn't bring you any. Though if I did, I would probably just drop a hot brick of my coffee in your lap! This is why I'm an engineer, not a coffee girl!
Love the text messaging... but lucky me, I get unlimited voice, text, data, and picture mail. One of the few remaining bennies.
