well, as previously discussed, for me it would be the Meat Loaf concerts I've attended to.  The others didn't even come close.

I did get to see Huey Lewis & the News back in 2001 at the Star Theatre in Indiana.  It was a perfect setting for a smaller scale show like his and that was a really fun concert.  I had seen him at the height of his popularity back in the 80's, but had crappy seats so I couldn't see anything.  That's never any fun.

You missed a good one!  Very nice show.  It was my first time at the Star Theatre & I really thought it was a great venue.

Shania a few years ago, right after Come On Over came out.  GREAT SHOW.  She was incredibly energetic and really got the crowd into it.  I originally went with a friend because she liked her, but after the concert I think I was hooked and bought all her discs

I would have loved to have seen Duran Duran back in 87, that was right near the end of their massive run of big hits, it would have been a hit-filled show!

As soon as I heard the original five were all back together for the new album I was REALLY excited about it's release.

I'm deeply rooted in the eighties too, so that Bowling For Soup song really struck a chord for me as well.  I know every generation thinks theirs was the best, but I really do think the 80's was the last generation with any hint of innocence to it.

By the 90's rap music came along and all bets were off in regards to what the new low we could reach was.

I mean, my parents were told by their parents that music was devil music because Elvis swiveled his hips, the eighties the biggest controversies were over things like Madonna singing about keeping her baby in Papa Don't Preach, but NOW.  Yikes!  What else can they POSSIBLY to be more vulgar, more shocking?  And the thing is, back in the 80's you had your acts that would push the envelope, but they were UNDERGROUND (Free plug for you J.D.), now the worst stuff is MAINSTREAM.

I compare a 1984 Hot 100 Chart to todays and it's night an day.  In 1984 everything was fun, mostly light-hearted, good music.  Today charts, you LITERALLY wouldn't want your kid listening to about 70% of the songs in their unedited versions.

Aaaaaaaaaaaah, yes, if there is a heaven, it will eternally take place in the years of 1983-1987, just one neverending loop in time

Mo started this topic awhile back- thought it might be a fun one to revisit! While I know a lot of you may say Barry Manilow, what was another great concert that you were at that you will always remember?

I know my last entry was the Rolling Stones '89 Steel Wheels tour, but I saw them again in '99 at the Bradley Center here in Milwaukee. I was 10 rows back and 10 rows up to the right of the stage. (Back when $125 for a concert ticket was cause for riot. It was worth it, I would have paid $300 for that night!). That was as close as I had ever been to such a big act. I was so close that legend has it that I was able to tell Keith Richards "Welcome back! The Stones Rule!" and he said "thnk yu I in La Rollin Stonez uhhhh...."

I loved the Bon Jovi New Jersey tour.  That was really good.  Their opening band was Skid Row.  I still have a cigarette that Alec John Such had clamped between his teeth.  I saw Tico Torres after the show.  He was a total jerk.  We were waiting for a friend who was backstage and he came out.  He asked why we were there and we told him and he said "We don't want any jailbait.".  I was furious!  I was 18 and was VERY insulted.  Who at 18 wants to be called jailbait?  I wanted to tell him that he didn't have to worry, I wouldn't sleep with him anyway, but I have more class than that.  Anyway, love the music, don't like Tico. 

Hey Sparky, last summer Journey was WITHOUT Perry right?

I had heard he wanted to tour but needed time to recouperate and the band refused to wait because they felt they had momentum from a somewhat successful CD a few years ago.

I would love to see them if they were all back together again, but without Perry I don't think I'd go if I had free tickets.  To me the lead vocalist IS the band in most cases (although I heard his replacement sounds just like him).

i THINK YOUR ALL MISSING THE BOAT. I'VE SEEN A LOT OF GREAT CONCERTS BUT THERE IS NO EXPERIENCE LIKE A dEAD SHOW (I NEED A MIRACLE). i LOVED U2, THE STONES CONCERT WAS A BLAST, BUT THE DAY LONG EXPERIENCE YOU GET AT A GRATEFUL DEAD SHOW IS NOT ONLY A CONCERT, IT'S AN EVENT! iF YOU'VE NEVER BEEN, YOU MISSED SOMETHING NOT TO BE DUPLICATED IN OUR LIFETIME.

As The Jazz Doctor, I do love the Jazz. And before I loved the Jazz, I dug Underground 80's artists (see Trish for broadcast times of these shows). But before I loved these, there was only the classic rock to love in the world of JD.

I still love the Stones, Who, Yes, but not far down this list is the .38 Special, Dovetails. BY GOD- 3 guitars?!?! 2 drummers?!?! "What If I'd Been The One" "Back Where You Belong", heck even the later "A Heart Needs a Second Chance"....good good stuff, I agree!

Last year about this time, on a whim, I bought an electric guitar FROM WALMART! LOL! There was a clearance sale on this beginner guitar & speaker combo. I used to play years ago, did ok, but never learned how to solo. Sold all my old equipment. So this new Walmart guitar was to be my next new hobby..& as I moved the dusty thing this evening, I was reminded that I should re-start that hobby....one of these years....
