a few days back I remember riggs mentioning a show he and his dad used to watch that made them laugh. when thinking of fat albert, I remember my dad and I on vacation in Rockford Illinois (lol....I know, right?) watching a bill cosby stand up special on HBO or something where he was talking about "your mother sent me up here to kill you- why did you do a sideways mohawk? I DUNNO", ; I just remember us laughing so hard at how retarded the situations he was mentioning were, but with all the indignancy of a professor presenting a thesis....smile

That is one of the all-time great stand-up comedy shows ever filmed! Bill Cosby - Himself I believe is the name. It still makes me LMAO!

We're watching 6 Feet Under on DVD right now, and we're totally addicted. We also loved Dead Like Me.

I'm also addicted to Law & Order SVU, whenever we go over to our friends' house and they have it on I can't pull myself away from it.

I loved Witchblade when it was on, but unfortunately it only had two seasons and it's not on DVD. I've got it all on VHS except for the second half of the first episode. Grr.

From my childhood, as hokey as it was, I loved ALF!

Gilligan's Island. smile.gif

Later, I remember trying to make sure I was in at the right time in the afternoon for Tarzan, the one with Ron Eli.

Even later, one of my favorites was The Dukes of Hazard. It wasn't so much the show itself, but it was on Friday nights, the weekend was coming, dad was always in a good mood, it always worked out my family was all together around the tv . . . and we usually made popcorn.

About the time we got married, I always tried to be in front of the TV for "Tour of Duty".

Now, of course one of the few shows that I really try to be available to watch is Mythbusters.

Right now my fav is CSI, but I'm watching all the re-runs of it on Spike TV, haven't seen any of the new episodes.

Other shows I really liked:
All In The Family........that show was great and so funny at the time.

Twilight Zone......I still watch it

Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In.......I loved whatever characters Ruth Buzzi played

Saturday Night Live......with the original cast; Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Gilda Radner, John Belushi, and Dan Aykroyd........I never cared for the show after this line-up changed.

The Honeymooners.......what can I say, I loved Jackie Gleason

Thumper, I forgot about Sanford & Son, Mama's Family, and The Carol Burnett Show!  Those were all great too, and so funny!!

I was just talking with my dad yesterday about different comedy shows that used to be on tv, and how different comedy is today compared to the older shows.  Most of the stuff that's on tv today that they try to pass off as comedy I just don't find funny.........it's like they're trying too hard for those "canned" laughs and they rely a lot on sexual innuendo to make the shows funny.  The older shows didn't need to do this.......they were actually funny without having to try so hard for the laughs.  Times change, and I guess they have to give the people what they want, but I miss a lot of those old shows.

TV Land had a Carol Burnett weekend a few years ago and showed over 48 hours of nothing but the Carol Burnett Show and I have all of them on VHS ( yes I still have a VHS player ) so I watch them every now and then I love it when crack up in the scenes

Childhood: Little House on the Prairie, Fantasy Island, Happy Days
Highschool: Miami Vice, Magnum PI, Cosby Show, Moonlighting
College: Cheers
Early hood: Seinfeld, ER, Friends
Now: "Lost" was the only show I really got hooked on for a while. I missed ALL of last season though. Just easier to wait for DVD. Since it's hard to have time to sit through a whole show anymore, I find I mainly watch: E, VH1, or HGTV. It's easy to watch and go without missing anything such as a plot or storyline.

Gilligan's Island was another show I really liked.  Hey Web, do you know if they ever made it off that island in any of the episodes??  I was just wondering, cuz during the time I watched it, they were never rescued.

I don't remember, but now you have me curious too. I searched and found a Wikipedia article that says:

Last episode

The last episode of the show, "Gilligan the Goddess", aired on April 17, 1967, and ended just like the rest, with the castaways still stranded on the island.

The last show was in 1967? Wow, they must have ran reruns forever then.
