Senior Prom theme songs

In the spirit of my 20th high school reunion coming up in a couple of weeks, I want to pose the question - What was the theme song of your senior prom and what year was it?  The year was 1984 for me and the song was Bryan Adams' "The Best Is Yet To Come"

I had to pull out my senior prom pic for that one.  I couldn't remember.  How bad is that?  Fortunately, I carry it in my purse (which somehow seems even sadder).  Ours was Vision of Love.  I know of at least 3 other proms that had Stairway to Heaven.  That was one of the most popular ones I heard.  I think my junior prom was Stairway to Heaven.

HAHAHA "ALL OF MY LOVE" by LED ZEPPLIN. This is 1987 too. All the greaseballs stuffed the ballot box, and none of them actually ended up going to the prom anyhow.

Well, mine was 1988 and it was "I've had the time of my life" from Dirty Dancing. Not a great song to slow dance to.

No, Not great to slow dance to, but I could totally see this song as a prom theme...imagine the end of a John Hughes type movie where the camera is in tight, & you are slow dancing with your girl at the beginning of the song. When the fast part comes around, you split and just dance...as the camera pulls back and up...you eventually get the whole dance floor in the shot, and everyone is dancing to the happy ending...and BLACKOUT...BEGIN CREDITS....

yup, definitely could see it...

I was cleaning out some old boxes over the holiday break and just came across my Senior Prom picture / souvenoir book.  Dang, that was 20 years ago already.  Where did the time go?  I guess like they say, " Time flys when you are having fun".

My theme was:  "Don't Stop Believin" by Journey

I grew up in farm country, so it had to be a country song.  Thankfully, it's from an artist I like.

"When You Say Nothing at All" from Alison Krauss and Union Station

Good memories.  Although I wished my prom song were any of the ones you guys have mentioned.

But of course, I've heard it, in fact I have it in my collection.

But I prefer the more recent cover version of it by Ronan Keating which was used in a Julia Roberts movie (I forget the one right now).

There are actually 3 versions of the song:

Ronan Keating (good version to fit the feel of Notting Hill)

Alison Krauss (always a soft spot in my heart)

and the original by country singer Keith Whitley.  Krauss' version was done in tribute to Whitley, who I believe drank himself to death.

You know..I realized I know way too much about that...

Somechick, was that TOO MUCH about the SONG or TOO MUCH about DRINKING yourself to death?

It's a toss up.  Just kidding.

It's funny though, because I know that information about the song, yet most of the time I can't remember where I put my keys.
