here, but still sick. My throat is on fire. hmm

We replaced the battery in my car and so far so good!

My husband got his x-ray results back and she said that everything looked fine.

I have a feeling that I will end up having to go to the doctor's. This does not please me because I already have to make a wellness appointment. hmm I hate that they can't combine those!

Good morning all! I'm at training. It is supposed to rain here today. It has been lovely overall and I am still taken back by the mountains. I have the Blue Ridge on one side and the Alegheny(SP?) on the other. Sorry you're ill Woo. Hope you get to feel better soon- gargle with some warm salt water.

Emily goes to my dad's for the first overnight tonight. Wish her luck.

Happy Thursday everyone.

The boy is at his first day of 1st grade. He was ready to go back, but not jumping up and down with excitement. I did get it worked out that he can ride the bus from school to here at the office. That will be nice that I don't have to worry so much about shutting down and getting there in time to pick him up. School is letting out early for the first week due to the heat and no air conditioning there.

We made another quick trip to Kearney to see mom-in-law last night. She is back in the hospital with a bad infection. It started under her left breast and is now in both. They are saying it is either a staff infection or flesh eating bacteria. They are waiting for a plastic surgeon to come look at her to determine if it is the flesh eating bacteria thing or not. We had to gown and glove up to go into the room. She did have a little surgery high on her arm on the same side, near where it started, so I expect this to be staff infection from that surgery.

Its still going to be humid, but at least its cooler. Its 65 now with an expected high in the upper 80's.

Sheesh, add another to my list . . . My DSL modem is going out. I can't stay connected more than a few minutes at a time. The phone co is overnighting me a new one. I'll probably need to use what connection time I have for work stuff.

well it actually isn't good news. There was stuff that the doctor wrote on the letter that we didn't understand. So he called and they want to do a pulmonary test. cry

Hehehehe . . . I may have bought me some more time with my modem.

I cracked it open and ripped the circuit board out of it. I found one chip that was running hot enough I couldn't stand holding my finger on it. I just set the board on my desk so it could get plenty of air and I also stood a 1/2" bolt up on that chip to act as a heat sink. This is the longest I've stayed connected yet today. smile.gif

Hopefully this will keep me online until the new modem comes. I can use my cell phone too, but don't want to tie up my phone all day if I don't have to.

Oh man, I don't like the sound of that Web, because I hope that's not what my modem at home is doing. I always thought it was the connection. :/ It'll drop or run really slow, but not all the time. The one time I called about it, they had me do all this stuff (that I knew wasn't going to fix it, I hate jumping through their hoops), and then finally said that the DSL in my area was out. Ever since then, I've figured it was just the connection, since my phone connection can be pretty crappy at times too.

For my DSL modem, I found a bigger piece of brass rod (about one pound) that I stood up on the chip that was getting hot. It ran the rest of the day just fine like that. It must have been just enough to keep that chip cool and keep me connected. The modem was staying connected fine, it just would quit talking to my computers until I rebooted it.

I had to choose between buying or renting the modem. The basic model was $60 to buy or $5/mo to rent. The wireless one was $140 to buy or $8/mo to rent. Last time I bought the $60 modem but this time I'm renting the $8.00 one.


The boy made it to the shop on the bus just fine. He thought it was pretty cool to ride the bus. Day one of 1st grade is over.
