My friend/co-worked had a baby on Friday. She and I were very close for a while and over the past few months we have been so busy we havent talked much. I heard she had her baby from another friend that works with her at her full time job. I dont know the babies name or anything. I am not sure if I should call her? send a gift? go see her?

I'd call her. If you were close, I doubt she'd mind, but that way, you're not being imposing and just dropping in. And you'll be able to tell from the call whether you should visit her, send a gift, etc.

I guess I'm out voted. I'd just think that a new mom would be busy enough that even if she enjoyed hearing from you, you may never get an answer to a card. I guess it also depends on how close you were, and how close you want to be.

She wasnt my best friend or anything but we went to lunch together most days and talked on the phone alot. She got a full time job in a different office and with us moving, things just got hectic.

I know I would like a pack of diapers and a card. A call to get that started would be great too! MZ is right- and I remember being on maternity leave and craving an adult conversation- hell- I still do!

I remember being on maternity leave and calling my mom crying and asked her to get me the hell out of the house. I couldnt take little A alone yet, she was too small for the carseat and someone had to hold her head at every stop or go. She was so little that the infant seats were HUGE for her.
