FAVORITE 80'S ALBUM COVER

Ok, I don't know about you guys, but I thought the 80's had some of the COOLEST album cover art ever!

When I was a kid about 14 I'd get up at 4 AM in the morning, bike to the local record stores and jump into their trash bins to dig out posters & album flats (yes, I was that pathetic in my love of music & the stuff that went with it).

Anyway, I'm curious what some of your FAVORITE 80's album covers were

I for one thought Journey's "Raised On Radio" was a phenomonal one.  I also really liked Survivor's "Vital Signs", even though it was kind of simple, I thought it was really cool.

More will come to mind, but while I think about it, how bout you guys?

I loved The Outfield's Play Deep album cover.  I thought it was so cool.  When I was in 8th grade we had to do an art project and I did my own "perception" of it.  It was incredibly sad, since I have zero artistic talent.  My teacher had no idea who The Outfield was and thought that I was doing an original piece and thought it was "incredibly brave".

BTW, I don't think I used enough quotes there.  So here """""".

Great one!  That's a top ten album cover of the 80's no doubt!

Here's a cop out...But I Like the cover to the Back to the Future Soundtrack...It's just the poster for the film, but it's so cool. (I love that guy that made those posters, he also did the star wars ones, Indy Jones, and a bunch of other famous ones)

Some day when I have some extra free time I'll have to work on adding a "Hall Of Fame" of album cover art to the site.

I have all the 80's covers scanned into the system already, so it wouldn't be that hard.  Maybe I could let everyone vote on the inductees every so often.

That BACK TO THE FUTURE cover art (and movie poster) were PHENOMONAL.  I loved those burning track marks and that spinning license plate.  The eighties had a lot of classic soundtracks and album art to go with them.

Hey JD, you BARELY qualified with TATOO YOU, that was an 81 release.  I had to look it up cus it just didn't register as an 80's disc to me.  But you were right!

Actually the part I liked most was the solid Marty McFly stepping out of the ghost of the DeLorean...only in the first one was the car a ghost...2 & 3 had the car fully present as it was no longer a mystery.

the police - syncronicity

the design of the cover just seemed to capture the mood of the album perfectly

I forgot all about that one!  Very cool, even though it was goofy!

Thump do you remember the 1980 ONJ tv special where she introduced "Physical" and this new look and attitude to the world? She was responsible for the sporty headband look in the early 80's. She was trying to shed that innocent GREASE persona! I still remember that!
