I don't have a problem with cover versions if you have something NEW to add to it.

Heck, I don't mind covers that are faithful to the original if it's kind of an "homage" to the original. But you don't do THAT type of a cover until 40 years after a song is originally released.

This song sounds just like the Lauper version but sped up and louder. They add NOTHING of interest to it.

Unless there's blatant swearing in the song of course.

I WILL however remove it from the new song rotation pretty soon. (It's time is almost up anyway). Then it should fade into the background.

THEN AGAIN, now that you've stated your distaste for it publicly I imagine whoever keeps playing Night Rangers GOODBYE and REO Speedwagons CAN'T FIGHT THIS FEELING will add Quiet Drive to their daily request list hmm.gif

That's SO true JD.

I bet if you asked 10 kids under the age of 24 they'd think that was an original.

I know when I was younger my parents would get annoyed at a song I liked and say "That's a remake, so and so did it much better in 1957" and I would just think "WHATEV! YA GRUMPY OLD PERSON!"

yesterday I sent out a  good humored work-related email to 4 people. I embedded a picture of the Mackenzie Brothers in it, and used their speaking style in the email. Only one other person knew who it was....over 40. The folks in their 20s? no clue......hmm

I requested Huey Lewis & The News already, to at least block the Paltrow duet.  And Night Ranger I did this morning.  (Tried for REO, but it said "Artist recently played.")  Request a different Hornsby song, and see if it'll block it.

Just to go full circle......Time After Time was written by Eric & Rob from The Hooters....who's madellin (sp?) based veriosn of the song is just incredible!
