Okay, since we've got a ton of "Best of..." threads going, here's another one and I'll be really interested in the answers.
Whats the best song (album cut) you've ever heard off of an 80's album that never became a single? For the purposed of the discussion let's stick to pop music. Most of J.D.'s "Underground 80's" stuff was never released as a single but that's not what I'm looking for.
Three songs pop into mind immediately for me.
1) Chicago - REMEMBER THE FEELING
I beleive this was actually a B-Side to YOU'RE THE INSPIRATION or HARD HABIT TO BREAK, it was off the 17 album. I still can't beleive they didn't save it for a fifth single off that fantastic album. I actually keep this one in the rotation of the station because I think it's so good.
2) REO Speedwagon - WHEELS ARE TURNING
Actually, EVERY cut on the WHEELS ARE TURNING album was great (which would be another good topic, what are the most listenable 80's CD's from start to finish), but I really loved the title cut. I could see why it wasn't a single, because it didn't really have the "REO" sound to it, but lyrically it was fantastic!
3) Peter Cetera - DIP YOUR WINGS
Again, I think this was a B-Side from one of Cetera's actual singles, but MAN O MAN, this is one of his best songs EVER. When the label stopped releasing singles from the WORLD FALLING DOWN CD I was going NUTS, this would have been a HUGE hit on A/C Radio! Although, I'm not sure, that may be early 90's.
