Computer problem that I don't know how to fix.

I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and knows what to do.



When I hit my enter key, it acts like I hit it multiple times in a row.  It's only my enter key, none of my other keys are doing that.




I'm wondering if there's some setting I accidentally set, or if it's time to get a new keyboard.  Anyone else have this happen before?

I had a staple stuck under a key one time and did not realize it, the letter would type multiple times. I finally picked it up and shook it in anger and I heard the staple!

My first thought would be time for a new keyboard

I would swap keyboards with someone for a bit and see if the problem moves from you to them. That would verify that it is indeed the keyboard.

Well, it's working correctly again.

I unplugged my keyboard and tested it out on another computer, where it worked fine. So I brought it back to mine, and now it works fine. It's a wireless keyboard, and it's the transmitter/receiver thing that I unplugged, so I wonder if it just needed some sort of reset (shutting down the computer didn't work).

Eh, just FYI, in case anyone else runs into this sort of thing.
