Morning everyone, while looking for another station last night Freeze-Frame Radio was listed as an Editor's pick on Live365. Finally!!
At least the station went out with it's head held high!

Good morning all! I woke very early for no reason, so I decided to come into work and get on with the day. It's rainy and chilly here, but looking on the brighter side - at leats it's not snow!

We always knew it was the best!!

I too was looking around for something we all might like.  I thought I may have found a temporary solution as it was the only station that let the listeners make requests.  Upon further investigation, I found their music library only contained a little more than 1,600 tracks, and after about every 10 minutes of music playing there were some commercials (about 3 in a row), but it also had two other faults that I considered to be pretty major.........first, the "now playing" list wasn't updating at all.  I listened in for a little over an hour, and during that time, the now playing list never changed, even when I threw in a couple of requests....it continued to show for an hour that a Fleetwood Mac song was playing.  The other problem I found was when I first entered the site.....it had a "click here to listen" link, which brought up an obscure player that I couldn't get to work.  I kept hitting the button, and eventually, the Live365 player came up.  Needless to say, I decided that station wasn't something we'd all want to listen to since it didn't work in the manner we're all accustomed to.

As a side note, I'm home from work today and probably tomorrow too.  I was outside playing with my dog before it got dark last night, and while trowing a ball for her, I put something out in my back.....I felt a "pop" when I did it, and it's very painful for me to move.  I hurt my back earlier this year in the same place and was given some muscle relaxers at the time.  Since I had some left, I decided to use them......if I don't feel any different tomorrow, I'll make an appointment with the doctor.

Shake up in Husker land.

Yesterday the Husker's athletic director was fired (our football team is sucking big time this year). They had just renewed his five year contract in July so firing him cost the college $2.2 million in a buyout. The head of the University acts like that money is no big deal . . . I mean really, all we gotta do is raise tuition, right?

I would expect that the next athletic director will be hired with the understanding that his first job will be to fire the current coaching staff and start over.

Gotta love college politics . . . err . . . I mean football.

Yay! Someone finally answered the phone at the cable company.

She said that they are blaming Motorola for the problems because Motorola tried to push some kind of update to all of our cable boxes that screwed them all up.

Now, the local tech has to physically go to each individual cable box and do something to make them work again. I assume he has to flash the rom memory back to a working status. She took my phone number and the tech is supposed to call when he can do ours.

I asked if he is automatically going to each one to fix, or if we have to call to get on the list. She said everyone has to call to get on the list to be fixed. If you don't call, you don't get fixed.

That's just plain wrong!! So they know something's messed up with everyone's cable, but they will only fix it if you call to get on the list??  And companies wonder why people feel no loyalty to them anymore.  furious

Yup, thats right.

Originally, we had to have the box because Charter went to digital cable. Then Charter sold us and the new company switched us all back to analog. The new company said then that if we didn't want the box, we could return it and not have to have it at that point.

We still have cable tv, its just that this problem broke all of the functions of the box except for power, channel input and channel up/down. Even the clock stopped working. We kept our box mainly because of two features. We like the channel guide that shows what is on now, whats coming up next, and info about the current program/channel. Also, it has a "Last" button that makes it easy to switch back and forth between two channels if you are trying to keep up on two things at once.

Not huge things, but when you get used to having them, you miss them when they are gone.

I had a problem when we first got hooked up, it took 10 minutes on hold on a Saturday and he sent a signal from his computer to reset my box.
