morning yawn  jr. high football is finally over!  next trimester baseball hmm.  i'm just the driver, so i really don't know jack about sports...  do they acutally play ball during the winter?  and if yes, is it indoors?  hmm

The lawyer called my wife today about something so my wife told her we needed to talk about this fee agreement.

The lawyer said she had to go out of town again today so the talked on the phone a bit.

My wife said, one of our concerns is the life insurance. According to this agreement, does this say that you get 3% of the life insurance when I'm going to fill out a form and send it in to claim it?

The lawyer said: "Oh, gosh . . . gee . . . I don't know . . . I'll have to check into that."

My wife said: "Well, we're having a little trouble with thinking you get 3% of it for doing NOTHING with that."

The lawyer said: "Ummm . . . yeah . . . well, I suppose you're right, we can probably write the live insurance out of the fee arrangnement."

So, she was darn well planning on taking a cut of it had we not brought it up.

Is there a lawyer that is not a crook? . . . no.gif

Sorry you're off to such a bad start on your day, but things can only get better right?

I'd just like to say publicly that Webguy is a genius. He continues to save my sanity with his internettin' skills. The last two weeks I've been doing a lot of movin' around of sites and such and he has been crazy valuable! THANKS AGAIN WEB!

I talked to a lawyer today who "gets it". Yes, believe it or not.

I told him I was looking for a second opinion on what we were doing here. I told him about the other lawyer charging 3% of "all gross assets".

He said "I don't understand that mentality. We charge our hourly rate to do the work necessary. I don't understand why any lawyer thinks they deserve a percentage of your family's assets to do legal work for you."

We're going to try to set up a meeting with our current lawyer and ask her to explain her fee schedule.

It is still rainy and cool here. We have gotten 4.5 inches of rain in the last two days. It was great to get it, but now I am ready for the clouds to move out.

I am waiting on the electrician to get here to replace the porch light fixture. He has been coming for the last three days thinking that he had the part to fix it, but then just decided last night that he was just going to replace the whole thing!hmm

Web, I'm glad she asked about it!!   I'm glad you found another attorney too.  Your wife needs someone looking out for her and her mother's estate. The previous attorney sounded pretty shady to me.
