Oh Happy Thursday

Figured I'd start a thread since I was up so early listening to the furnace try to start to no avail!
First morning home alone and I have no heat! cry.gif Why couldn't it do it yesterday when it was a decent day?! I called my sister but they were off to court but she said she would have Jeff look at it later. All I can say is that it is a good thing I went to bed early. I don't normally do anything before 6 am. I was up at 5:30 listening to the furnace.

Well hopefully my computer will be up and running at work today. I will be busy but it would be nice to get internet back at least for some tunes!

Hope your day is better than mine!

Morning everyone.  Nothing to report this morning, just one of those blah days.

Woo, I hope your landlord can get to your furnace today.....that should be his responsibility to fix for you.

SG, the turkey luncheon sounds really good!  Last night I was wishing I had a turkey sandwich to munch on, but I gotta wait a week yet.

Thumper, hope you have fun playing Santa tonight!

Have a good day everyone.  It's almost Friday!!  smile

Good Morning, I'm having a very lazy morning today, my alarm actually went off, I was sound asleep. I usually wake up 10 or 15 minutes before it goes off. Now I am letting the dryer do the work of de-wrinkling my dress shirt (hopefully) now I better get to the office. Have a great day.

Hey, I've got a couple of tunes in the que that will shake off the "crud" of this Thursday thing. Hump Day wasn't too effective.
Holiday Folk Fair tomorrow night. I've got a shift at the "American Pantry" 6-10pm.
I think there is a junk yard run on Saturday, daytime. Not sure what I'm shopping for but, that doesn't matter.
Play Saturday Night. (South Milw HS)
Work in the yard in my spare time.

Happy Thursday. Woo, stay warm.smile.gif

Mornin' all.

What a difference two days makes. It's COLD here today, only 3 degrees above freezing right now hmm.gif

I gotta go food shopping now. I'm have to get the finishing touches for next weeks Thanksgiving dinner. Then I got MORE leaves to rake. They're falling like snowflakes now! Did I mention I hate raking? I've always hated sweeping too, and raking is really just sweeping with a metal broom isn't it?

I hope everyone has a great day!

Could be quite the modern metaphor. (if you think about it)cry
Some people do that with work, their children, etc.
Being a former Scout leader... the drop n run happened pretty often.

I was hopin' the wind might handle that for me! It's blowin' in the neighbors yard, and I live on a corner with not many tree's across the street.

I think I'll wait awhile and see just how much mother nature hates my neighbor biggrin.gif

It was terrible windy here yesterday. I don't have NEAR the leaves to rake I did. Most of mine are from my neighbor's tree that is right next to our driveway so I don't feel too guilty about not getting them picked up before they moved on.

I'm going to go eat lunch with my kid at school. Today is their Thanksgiving diner. He likes it when one of us goes and eats with him now and then.

I have another lady customer that I have to make a decision about. She had been a customer before and about a year and-a-half ago, she wanted to start a new site. At that time, she had "just lost her job" and asked if I could trust her and set up the site with payment to come in "a couple weeks". Since I had worked with her before, I did that.

After a while with no payment, I kept getting stories how the job market was bad, etc. etc. A while after that, I emailed her to give her a deadline on payment and a friend replied that she had been brutally raped and was in the hospital. After she got out of the hospital, she would email me now and then with updates and promises to pay as soon as she was back on her feet. She had made a couple small payments during that time, but only about 20% of what was due.

All this time, I was very skeptical, but when I talked to her, she did sound really bad. Her speech was slurred and she was not always making sense. I had to believe her that she was telling me the truth.

About two months ago, she called and said she was now suffering from total amnesia and that she wanted me to call her every two weeks and remind her of her site and what was going on with it. I didn't ever call her back.

Last week, I checked on her site to see if she had been working on it and the domains had expired. They've been bought up by a domain reseller. She didn't register the domains through me so I couldn't do anything about them expiring. When I saw that she hadn't renewed the domains, I closed her account. (This was just Saturday.)

Now today, I get an email from her saying "I'm back! I'm all healed and as good as new! I'm ready to start making payments again and get to working on my site!" She went on to thank and praise me for trusting her and letting it go on without payment as long as it has.

So, I still want to believe her . . . but the timing is just too interesting to not wonder if she's been playin' me this whole time. Her site goes away and now she's all healed and ready to get back to work on it.

For now, I replied that I closed her account because she let her domains expire so there's no reason to keep the site on the server if the domains are not working. I'll see what she says about that.

She's realized now that her domains are gone and that it wasn't just me shutting her site off.

Now, she wants me to get her a new domain so she can start over with a new site.

I replied "Sure, once you get caught up with what is owed us, we can start over with a new site."

I have a feeling that is not the answer she was fishing for.

I got ahold of the landlord who has called someone to fix the furnace. I have not heard back yet if it has been fixed.

I still cannot do my job and I just now got internet! I have a feeling consumers are just not gonna get paid on time.

The furnace is shot and I will be without heat tonight. I have an offer to stay at a friends' house but I am so stressed that I think I just wanna be home. I have a heater for when I am up and the bed has a heating blanket.

The existing furnace is under the house in the crawl. I guess too much condensation got in it. The furnace is so old that part of it broke off when the guy was checking it out. They don't make parts for it anymore. Now they are trying to figure out where they can put a new one and expect that some new ductwork is needed. My landlord said that they knew it was coming but that stuff like this always happens at bad times. Our rent is so going up next year. no.gif

Your rent may not go up too much Woo.  After all, a furnace is something that lasts for years and years, not like other appliances that have a much shorter life span.  And part of the cost he pays for a new furnace and duct work should be deductible on his income taxes.

The good news for you and your hubby is that a brand new high efficiency furnace saves on your heating bills!!  smile  Even if he opts for a standard new furnace, you will still save money on heat because the old one had to be an energy waster.

yeah I did think about saving energy. Our furnace sucked. But when we first came to rent here they were debating on selling the house. I'm worried that this may have them thinking about it again. We would not buy it.
