R.I.P. WYMS JAZZ

Jazz Fans in the Southeastern Wisconsin area will be saddened to hear that the final steps are in place to change the jazz format of broadcast station WYMS 88.9 fm into a crap station that doesn't feature jazz, just crap. Read more about it at http://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/nov04/275869.asp

I am happy to be able to be a source of local jazz programming in the Milwaukee area on Sunday evenings, to keep the tradition of broadcasting this music alive.

Hey J.D.

You should try calling the DJ one night before they go off the air and ask him to throw you a plug!  He just might do it!  Tell his audience "On Sunday nights you can still get your jazz fix via the internet..."

Sad thing is Riggs they've been on 4 hour loops for over 2 years now. All my favorite local jazz djs are gone. This is a syndicated feed from NYC I believe. It wasn't good, but it was ok. Now even it will be gone!

I was thinking of writing a letter to the editor of our local newspaper. Get in a plug or 2 that way while lamenting the death of the jazz on that station.

Thank you. Jazz 101 changed the way I listen to Jazz. I was a big fan of Fusion but, now I'm diggin' Bebop and all that.
