What is your favorite memory of high school?

I was going to title this "What was the worst thing you ever did in high school?", but being rather tame in high school (though I did talk a good game), I don't think I could compete here.  My dad was military and you DID NOT go against him.  He is the best dad ever, but you did not disobey.  I never snuck out.  I never did drugs.  I was vanilla ice cream.

ANYWAY, my favorite memory of high school is what we called "rolling lakewood".  There is this place in North Little Rock called Lakewood Village.  It had a little outdoor ampitheatre that was just basically a grassy hillside under a large pavillion that met in the middle.  We would all go out in a group and go to Lakewood Village and roll down the hills and all meet in the middle.  It was a blast.  Sometimes you got kicked in the face, but it was worth it as you burst into hysterical laughter.

O.K., how about the rest of you?  I know you guys have some good stories.

JD, I'm reading that thinking "Oh, he's so sweet!" and then I see the emoticons at then end and just died laughing!  It looks like the guys that I dated in high school.

One of them most embarrasing times that I had in high school was when I went to this band party with my best friend.  It was at the Holiday Inn.  We got to use the pool and hot tub.  I borrowed a suit from my sister because were about the same size.  She hadn't worn it yet and I wheedled her until she let me wear it first.  So I go in the hot tub and there are about 5 other people in there.  I sit down and we all started talking and laughing.  I didn't notice anything was wrong for about 20 minutes, when it became overly apparent that for the last 20 minutes the front of me had been a focal point.  When the suit got wet, it became almost transparent.  THAT is what that emoticon reminds me of.  It was so horrible.  One of the guys that was in the hot tub asked me out later in the week, but I was WAY too embarrassed to say yes.

The parties were great in high school. I went to a catholic school and somebody's parents were always out of town. Otherwise we cruised around and hit the local fast food hangouts. I also loved football games. However the best for me was in 1985 when the Bears won the superbowl (and almost every other game that year!). There was a ticker tape parade downtown and our school said that if you did not go to school, that you would be suspended. My dad, being a big Bears fan and sometimes cool dad, called in for me that day and said that I was sick. A huge group of us took the train downtown and partied. It was an awesome experience. Unfortunately today things like that today seem to always go sorrow.

asisson I was just down in Chitown this past week. I love the place. Walked around Soldier Field (and laughed and pointed because I am a Packers fan), went to the Field Museum, Chinatown and The Goose Island Brewery. What side of town did you live on, what other cool things, places, restaurants etc did you enjoy when you lived there?

Skipping a week of school after signing in every morning and only getting 8 hours detention instead of being expelled because I skipped with the truant officers son.

I love it when forum members dig deep into the archives and bring back an old topic!

Topics never die here at Freeze-Frame, and thats a GOOD thing.

My memory (this topic must have escaped my viewing the first time around) is VERY similar to Stevie B's.

I used to come in late to class on almost a daily basis.  On the good days I would see the attendance sheet was still stuck on the classroom door (someone was supposed to come around and take the sheets).  I would scratch my name off and then be free to blow-off the next hour and a half biking around town because homeroom was after the first class and they didn't take attendance for that.

On the bad days the list would already be gone, and I'd go to my principles office where he'd have my pink detention slip filled out and sitting on the corner of his desk.

He'd see me walk in and just say "good morning Mr. Riggs, I'm glad you could join us today, I'll see you at 3:30"

Riggs did you go to West Allis Central? Is that the school off of 80-something and Lincoln?

Riggs--Don't hold it against me, I went to Nicolet.  Fondest memories--there are so many but they all began with a party at someone's house.  I skipped a lot, but was never caught.  Af few of the classrooms were set poorly, and with my seating, I would be there for attendance, then as the chaos started and the teacher began to calm us down, I would slip out the door.

It's hard to beleive how fierce those rivalries could be hey?

I mean, the school just had a buzz running through it the entire week before we were taking on Hale.

You hated these kids and most of us never even met any of them!

My favorite memory of High School was the dances. It was the easiest place to get a new girlfriend. At my school it only seemed like people danced to the slow songs. This is where all of the 80's Ballads came into play. By the end of the night you were well on your way to at least a month worth of memories or until the next dance anyways...

My favorite memory was my senior year...

It was 97 degrees at kick off for our first football game....

We were down 7-3 in the fourth quarter with time running out. Our cross town rival was trying to run out the clock,,,our nose guard slapped the ball out of their running back's hands...it bounced to ...ME...i ran 48 yards for a touchdown,,,the only one I ever scored...we win 9-7.

I met my husband while I was in high school... But, he wasn't at my high school, so I don't know if that counts.

Actually at school, it would have to be all the films we made. Armed with a video camera and the school's editing software, we made all sorts of crazy videos, including our own spoof of the X files called the XYZ files. That was so much fun!

The first time I went "cruising" with my new girlfriend.

18 years later, she still cruises with me but won't sit so close.

Yep, I met him my senior year. He was well out of high school by that time though. But I didn;t know that when I met him, and he didn't realize I was still in high school. By time we found out our age difference, I think we had already fallen for each other.

He worked at a cafe I frequented. It was really more like an underage club that served coffee. He was good friends with the owner, who wanted a place for bands to play without alcohol.

And, we got married under the willow tree we used to make out by!
