Two big ones that pop to mind are... Michael Hutchence - INXS lead singer Hung himself with his belt. Very sad. His father said he seemed ok, but friends said he had a hard time accepting fame, and the things that came with it. Benjamin Orr - CARS Ben died from Kidney failure I beleive. Actually, Ben Orr died from cancer. And the Michael H. thing - I don't remember it ever being ruled as a suicide. Some thought he was doing the masterbation thing.

How about Michael Jackson...Oh No Wait...it was just his career that died...
Well, that and all the blood vessels that once led to his nose...

WOW JD! I never knew that! I just bought SCTV Network 90 - Part II on DVD and Wendy & The Plasmatics are the guest on one episode. I remembered when I was watching it that she had died, but I always thought it was from cancer or something.
No illness - just depression. She actually lived near me in her last few years, working in a health food store. Very very sad.

I hadn't heard about Chris Ledoux. I'm sorry to hear that. The thing that always shocked me about Wendy from the Plasmatics is that women don't usually shoot themselves. Statistics show that women will commit suicide usually in a way that keeps the body's appearance in tact. That was quite a shocker for me and I always wondered if she actually committed suicide or if she was murdered.
Aside from her incredible gorgeous feminine figure, not too much about her was feminine! And people close to her all agree on the suicide ruling.

I was so heartbroken, and no one else around me "got" it. So, I called my mom. She remembers the Jonathan Brandis obsession I had, all the posters from Big Bopper and such, so she understood.
That was very depressing. Such a talented, good looking kid. And a local hero for us - he was from Danbury, CT.

More for the list, this is getting depressing. Joey and that other "Ramone" (sorry, I'm blanking on the other guys name), the lead singer from Frankie Goes To Hollywood - he died of AIDS, the original gutarist from the B52's - cancer, and actor Merrick Butrick (Star Trek II & III, Square Pegs) -AIDS from drug abuse. SHEESH! I need to go home, hug my wife and daughters, and shout out "Thank you, Lord! I'm still here!"
Joey, Dee Dee and Johnny Ramone all died, within a short time of each other.
And I'm happy to report that Holly Johnson (from Frankie Goes To Hollywood), although HIV positive, is still alive and well.

Just thinking of this weekend's concerts, 2 instantly come to my mind.
Tonight I am going to see Riot, and their original lead singer, Rhett Forrester, was shot to death in 1994 (Guns are bad, mmm-kay?) It was a big shock to the metal world.
I am also going to see Stephen Pearcy this weekend, which reminds me to mention his ex-bandmate, Robbin Crosby, who died from AIDS.
Also, off the top of my head:
Eric Carr - KISS drummer who died from cancer on one of the most depressing days of my entire life - Sunday, November 24, 1991. Same day Freddie died, and the anniversary of the first time I saw Eric play live. (By the way, I was also fortunate enough to see his final performance at Madison Square Garden.) A good drummer, and a sweet guy.

Tim Kelly- he was the guitar player for Slaughter. I think he died in some auto accident in 1998.
Yes, that was sad. And surprising. At least I got to see him live about 7-8 times before his death.

LOL! I think we've hit something that LS knows way too much about & is there ANYBODY you didn't see in concert? LOL!
Am I being a know-it-all? (Sorry)
Yes, there are a couple of artists I have not yet seen in concert. (But I'm working on it!)
One is Jean Beauvoir, who NEVER tours the U.S.! It's very frustrating.
And I have never in-person laid my eyes on the amazing Jim Steinman. (Yet!)

I'm with you WooHOo, LS is an encyclopedia of rock-n-roll entertainment.
My husband says I'm full of useless trivia. I'm hooked on the Behind the Musics and E-true Hollywood Stories. Have to read People.com and Eonline.com EVERYDAY!!
I definitely wouldn't want to go head-to-head with Lady Strange on Rock-n-roll Jeopardy though!! She'd BLOW me away!!
Oh I didn't mean to say you were a know it all! No offense was meant! I just thought it was funny how much you knew.
No offense taken!
Just thought of another one from January of that "fabulous" year 1991: Steve Clark. Who was saying they wanted to marry him?

Lady Strange, I'm digging those Jim Steinman songs too. I've started requesting one a day just to familiarize me with his music. Reminds me of Meatloaf. What's his bio? I've never heard of him.
You were talking about going to so many concerts. My concert days are over. My husband basically told me when we got married that I was really just doubling the cost of my own ticket buying him one too, because he wasn't getting ANY entertainment from it. So I quit going. For several years, he worked security at one of our concert venues here in Nashville. He'd come home and I'd ask him who it had been and how it was, he wouldn't even KNOW the name of the band or care!! It's just not in his blood.

Great on "Roseanne", but fantastic on "Angel"!! (Did you love him, WH22?)

Aha, so that's you getting me going with the Steinman songs - I was wondering! He wrote the ML songs. Also wrote Air Supply's "Making Love (Out of Nothing At All)", Bonnie Tyler songs, the soundtrack for the movie "Streets of Fire", etc. etc.
He is also Riggs' favorite songwriter. One of the 1st things Riggs & I bonded over.
Wow- Bummer about your husband not "getting" it. He's a police officer, though, right? In that case it's not surprising to me that he isn't a rocker... Why don't you go with someone else? No one else in your life who would enjoy the shows?

Do you know that I never made that Roseanne connection! Yes cool!
Really- You didn't know it was him? The first time I saw him on "Angel" I said to my friend, "Oh brother - he's using a cheesy accent?" And she (who is fanatical about actors the way I am about muscians) told me no, it's the other way around. She explained to me that he was actually using an American accent on "Roseanne." Since I found that out, I saw a repeat of "Roseanne," in which his Irish accent totally slipped out a couple of times, when he was doing a scene where he was really angry.

Jim certainly DOES have a sound that's uniquely his. Bonnie Tyler and that Air Supply song fit right in there!!
I can't blame it ALL on the hubby. Combine him with a full-time job, two kids, and I must confess my cheapness. I'm too tight and the concerts I WANT to see are too expensive.
I'm keeping my eye out though for that first concert experience for my kids though. It's a VERY important question for people "What was YOUR first concert to go to?". I'm very proud to say Foreigner. I don't want my kids to say something cheesy like Britney Spears!! I'm hoping INXS comes around. They may not want to go but I'll drag them kicking and screaming anyway.
Actually, my younger one went with me to see Elton John a couple of months ago so that'll be her first experience. My boss gave me the tickets. I wanted to take my older one. She didn't even know who he was and refused to go. My younger daughter ended up going with me. I loved it. She fell asleep!!

What Foreigner tour was it? Do you remember who the opening act was?

SYDNEY, Australia (Billboard) -- In an unsual ruling, the grave site of AC/DC singer Bon Scott in Fremantle Cemetery in Western Australia was classified with a heritage listing Wednesday.
Scott's legend has grown since February 19, 1980, when he died of alcohol poisoning at the age of 33.
Heritage listings usually are reserved for buildings, but the grave was recognized because it is visited by thousands of fans each year, a reflection of AC/DC's global popularity. A 2004 Australian movie, "Thunderstruck," centered on a group of AC/DC fans journeying across the country to visit Scott's resting place.
"For that particular form and style of music, AC/DC were very significant in bringing that kind of music to the world," says Kim Haynes, the National Trust's Western Australia heritage officer.
In addition, the Western Australia Bon Scott fan club's efforts to erect a Scott statue in Pioneer Park opposite the Fremantle railway station have received the blessing of Fremantle mayor Peter Tagliaferri.
Fremantle Council is discussing the idea, and Tagliaferri is hopeful the statue will be up by the end of the year. But Doug Thorncroft, president of the fan club, is pushing for a July unveiling, to coincide with what would have been Scott's 60th birthday. The club is starting a campaign to raise the $60,000 price tag for the statue.
Saturday, bands around Australia are holding tribute nights for Scott to mark the anniversary of his death. At Melbourne's Hi Fi Bar, AC/DC tribute band Thunderstruck will be joined onstage by former AC/DC bassist Mark Evans before a crowd expected to include Scott's widow, Irene.
