Oh, you're just trying to rub it in, aren't you? Our weather isn't too bad here considering. We didn't get the snow we were supposed to get (we got rain instead), and it's 35 degrees out. But, that's the high for today, so all this wetness could freeze.

I had too much to dream again last night. It was something about a roommate inheriting a house and inviting me to move in with him. But there were these guys that didn't want us in the house, so they trapped us inside and were hiding and capturing us and torturing us. I ended up deducing that the house used to be an orphanage and they lived there and were tortured as kids and now they were taking it out on us because they wanted the house back. So, we gave them the house back and relocated it onto their land.

Man, I really need to start writing these down and submitting them to screenwriters. Well, after the strike's over anyway.

Same here, Mz. Another restless night of dreaming. I bet I woke up 10 times during the night.

In about 10 minutes, I go see the lawyer about getting the LLC process started. It sounds like this morning is mainly about filling out forms of how I want it all set up.

The snow was pretty last night...softly falling and no wind, and the neighborhood was quiet because everyone was staying in. This morning it was NOT so pretty...well at least in terms of scraping off the car and trying to get about on poorly plowed streets! My stupidhead neighbors aren't shoveling snow like they are supposed to so the stairs and sidewalks are nearly impassable today, so I'm going to have a little talk with the landlord about it. That kinda sucks. Snow can be fun when you don't have all thsi fuss to deal with in the struggle to get to work in the morning.

i hope we don't get any snow until after Christmas (bah-humbug). right now we are 53 which is also our high for today. the temps will drop around to around 43 by sundown... still, not too bad.

Don't worry DS, it sounds like the snow and freezing rain will be staying in WI for awhile...the forecast is pretty bleak all the way through Sunday.

Yes, JD, it is kind of neat to be more like a "real" business.

Ruby, I just don't see where the tax benefit is. At least in my case, not much changes. I just see it as a shift in the tax from self-employment to personal income. Its my understanding that with an LLC, its still all considered as income on my personal tax return and taxed at the same rates.

Ruby, I'm wondering if something wasn't done right on your taxes at some point.

Self Employment "tax" isn't really a tax at all, but the other half of social security and medicare that your employer usually pays. Most people are used to it coming out of their paycheck, so you don't even notice it. If you are your employer, you have to pay both halves at once on your federal taxes, so it can seem like a hit. But, if you are the owner of a business, you do still have to pay those "taxes" in some shape or form.

Ruby, I'm wondering if your accountant changed how they filled out your schedule C at some point and gave you more deductions when you became an LLC.

I just now called the lady that does my taxes and specifically asked her what if any changes I'll see. She said I won't see any benefit or real change as far as what I'll pay or save. She said the only way I would be able to save anything would be if I was in the high tax bracket, I could save some on Social Security . . . but in my case the high tax bracket does not apply.
