Rolling stone says:

Sharp social criticism ("Fortunate Son") and party music ("Down On The Corner") take a ride on the Credence Clearwater bandwagon: Jon Fogerty's ability to wed swamp rock with catchy, complex arrangements gave WILLY a duarility few rock albums can match.

I've personally never been a big fan of CCR and I'm not sure why.

I think it just seems "before my time" and just doesn't have the polish I was used to growing up in the 80's.

I do like John Fogerty's solo albums though.

I have to be honest. I haven't listened to a lot of their music. What I have heard has usually been in a movie. I am pretty neutral.

Oh man, I love CCR!!!  Fortunate Son was the ****; great anti-establishment song!!  The words in a lot of their music had volumes to speak during a very turbulent time in the country.  Maybe that's why I like their music so much.

I'm indifferent to CCR. I wouldn't buy an album, but most the time I won't change the channel either. They're not bad, I'm just not into the southern rock sound.

I don't own any of their albums but I do enjoy a few of their songs. Once in awhile I will request Fortunate Son or Bad Moon Rising.

I like CCR well enough. (Of course, they are a sibling band biggrin.gif) But I can see why a lot of people don't like them. John Fogerty's voice can definitely get on one's nerves! And personally, my local classic rock stations played them a little too much. "Fortunate Son" does rock. In the 80's, T.T. Quick did a great version of it - Makes for a kickass metal song!

Yeah, that's probably another reason I don't really get into them, I've heard their songs too much.

Same here.

I'm a bit of a fame hater too. If a band is TOO popular I just naturally gravitate away from them.

I hated Elvis and the Beatles with a passion until recently. I still don't go crazy for either of them, but atleast have gained a respect for SOME of their music.

I'm generally a fame hater too. But the Beatles are different, probably because my uncle loves them so I grew up with their music. And well, I like all of it.

I don't hold anything against the bands themselves. It's the corporate machine that shoves them down our throats. The corporate radio stations and the record companies.

I was going to save my money so I could see them live back in 1971. When I was eight years old, I got "Green River" for Christmas. In 1973, I scored a double "Live In Europe" album. It had a twenty some minute version of a song called "Keep On Chooglin'"
Shortly after all of that... Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, TRex etc. CCR was way in the background.

Yeah, that's pretty much it here, but I find when I get sick of a song, I really don't care to hear the band's sound any more.  If they're good at changing up their sound, then I can usually get over it.  But especially with newer bands, it's like I just don't want to hear them any more.

That's a big part of it MZ, you're right.

There's some artists that really seem to change from song to song. Then there's artists that you have to listen to half the song before you can tell which one it is because they all sound so much alike.

Well, I'm excited about this countdown now. I think we'll wind up with some interesting conversations coming out of a few of the albums on the list clap.gif

I guess I like CCR enough. Its just pure basic rock and roll. I think how it must have been to hear something like that when it first came out. When CCR was a NEW sound....

I read this interview recently where Fogerty can still get mad at the rest of the band this many years later. "I wrote the songs. I got us the gigs. I did the singing....and they would bitch at me that the tour bus was cold etc....whiny little thankless children...."
