Your Mind-Blower Song....

Hey!
Got a song that when you heard it the first time just blew your mind, somehow changed your outlook on something, or stunned you with its perfection?

For me one of them songs is BAD by U2. First really listened to it when they performed it on LIVE AID. And when Bono dove into the crowd, I remember just being stunned at what a performance that was. I think any guy who saw that was wishing to be BONO ever since.....smile

Another one for me was Bullet with Butterfly Wings by Smashing Pumpkins. I remember some friends and I thought they'd never hit it as big or have another great hit album to match Siamese Dream. All week the radio station toyed with listeners "we've got the new smashing pumpkins song...next week". Finally it aired, and I remember driving and several cars were blasting that at  the same time and everyone was rocking out in their car seats. THumbs up,etc....smile

Mine would be Kashmir from Led Zeppelin. Still haunts me to this day (in a good way).

Another One for me was Captain Jack from Billy Joel. Another one that just fell onto my radar. I was not a Billy Joe fan that much, and one day this came on in the car. I had to pull over and listen. Couldn't believe no one told me about that song or that I never heard it.

Years later, went to a Billy Joel concert and he was talking about different songs, started to play the medley for that one and says he doesn't do it any more because it still can bum him out. that pissed me off pretty bad. 3/4 of the reason I went was in the hopes he'd do that song...

I've actually seen him perform it a few times...It's a huge song in Philly and when I lived there and saw him in NY & Philly he would always play it....it's a great live song too! I'm guessing alot like In The Air Toght by Phil Collins would be

I have no real story for it but Phil Collins- In The Air Tonight is one.

When that song comes on it's like everything else is tuned out. I fully get into that song! I now know more about the song, but originally I just liked that it had a dark feel to it and had killer drums!

***I was typing this when SG mentioned this song! lol, I came up with it on my own.

I've never seen Collins perform it, but a while back when Steve Winwood was playing arenas, he played it at full concert volume, just before entering the stage....It filled The Spectrum in Philly so tremendously that now when ever I play it or it comes on the radio I have to turn up the volume AND bass AND treble, to try and relive that experience! biggrin.gif
