Man of the year?

I haven't been the news junkie that I normally am.  But from what I recall Vladamir Putin has become a major pain in the butt again.

In fact, I beleive he's turning the clock back in Russia and treating people with no civil rights again correct?

So how the HELL does Time Magazine make him their MAN OF THE YEAR!?!

This seems disturbing to me!

Really, they picked him! I think a lot of people thought it would be Al Gore.

As much as I don't like AL Gore, he'd be 1000 times better in my book!

I can at least understand why people would view him as MOY. Putin just leaves me scratching my head.

Maybe next year it can be Kim Jung Ill

I was thinking Castro myself, but if he does step down officially from power like I have been hearing, he might DESERVE it!

I guess they are just trying to oust him and not honor him!

TIME Names Vladimir Putin Person of the Year

NEW YORK (WCBS 880 / AP) -- TIME magazine has named Russian President Vladimir Putin its "Person of the Year" for 2007.

The magazine says on its web site that "at significant cost to the principles that free nations prize, he's brought Russia roaring back to the table of world power."

``He's the new czar of Russia and he's dangerous in the sense that he doesn't care about civil liberties, he doesn't care about free speech,'' said Richard Stengel, Time's managing editor.

Former U.S. Vice President and 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore was the first runner up. Gore was followed by author J.K. Rowling, Chinese leader Hu Jintao, and American General David Petraeus.

Putin recently pledged to accept an offer of the prime minister's post when he leaves the presidency next year, promising to continue his influence in the Kremlin.
