Monday

...is not starting out well.  My car died on the way to work, right after the oil pressure light came on.  A quick internet search shows that this will probably be expensive.

morning yawn

sorry Mz!

I woke up with the kink back in my right shoulder and neck. So once again I can't turn my head to the right much. cry

They released my brother-in-law from the hospital yesterday. They believe his cholesterol is high and is what caused the blood clot and stroke. They gave him some meds and released him to come back to work. If the meds don't work then he will have to have a stint put in his brain. yikes! I haven't seen him today yet, but when we visited he was still slow and his lip was still not back to normal. My husband saw him trying to play Tetris and that was a challenge for him. But it looks like it is temporary- we hope.

now back to Monday-hmm

lol, I like that Squonk!

My car is a '99 Saturn. So kinda old. But I just paid it off a few months ago. From the quick search I did, it sounds like because I was hearing the loud sound, it's something in the engine itself, not the pump. And I kept driving it to get Brian to work, which sounds like was a HUGE no-no. The fact that I couldn't start it after it died means I could've seized the engine.

Sorry to hear about the car, Mz. Do you have any idea what the problem is? I hope it isn't as expensive as you think.

Squonk, I love it! It was a good weekend for football!

Well, it's Monday and I don't feel so blah today. I'm over the bug I had, I had a great weekend, and today might just be a quiet one. clap.gif I went to see the Rock Hall of Fame dhow at the planetarium. It was fun! Loud classic rock and a trippy effects show in the Imax Theatre makes for a great diversion. My favorite segments were The Doors' Break on Through and Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2.

I have a 2000 SW2 (wagon) with 93,000. It's been an experience to own it. We bought it with 5,800 miles on it.

Why does that kind of stuff always seem to happen right after you get it paid off? Geez, I hope that's not the case, Mz.

Mz, I hope the car thing turns out to not be nearly as serious as it seems.

Woo, I'm glad your brother-in-law is doing a little better and they found the problem I hope you can get your pains fixed too.

I hope everyone has the best day possible.

Hey Woo, do you have anything you can use for a hot compress for your neck? It sounds terribly uncomfortable - maybe a litle heat would help loosen it up? I'm glad to hear your brother-in-law seems to be improving - I'll be chanting for his full recovery. smile

Morning all!

Sorry about the rough start to your morning MZ, that really stinks!

Not much to report here, other than it was a GREAT weekend for football!

Thanks to the Dallas loss last night the NFC Championship is here in Green Bay next Sunday.

If we had to go to Dallas I put our chances of going to the Superbowl at about 50%, but now that the NFC Championship is here I would say we have about an 80 - 90% chance of being Superbowl bound!

Then Mr. Favrelous will do the unthinkable and put an end to New England's storybook season, stopping them one VERY important game short of a perfect run! clap.gif

MZ, did you drive the car to chicago? I can't help but think what a pain in the butt (moreso than it already is) if you guys got stranded somewhere on the way there or home...

cars. It never seems like you get to keep that money. Ya either are trying to pay off a car, or upkeep a car that you paid off.....hmm

Yeah, we drove it to Chicago and back with no problem.

I'm so scared. The more I read, the more I'm afraid I'll have to buy a new car. I can't afford a new car right now.

I just talked to my sister and she said that they are only keeping the cholesterol in check as a precaution. It wasn't very bad and everything else is healthy. I t sounds like they don't know what caused it. He has been stressed though. He has been dealing with child custody issues.

Hello everyone, MZ, was it a loud clattering noise? Does it still turn over but it won't start? If so it probably isn't seized. Most likely it would be a timing chain or timing belt that broke. What are the symptoms?

It was making a knocking sound before we left the house, and then the oil pressure light came on as we were driving down the road. Then it ran really rough and stalled. I started it back up, and drove Brian the rest of the way to work, and planned to limp it to my work before calling a mechanic. It died a couple times before it wouldn't start again. One time, the knocking went away, so I thought it might be some sort of clog.

Once it died the last time, I don't think it tried to turn over. Frankly, at that point I was expecting it to die, so I didn't try all that hard to get it started.

blankstare.gif Oh....

If it was knocking, oil light, then didn't turn over, I'd say it was low on oil and probably did seize up. cry.gif

they did a bunch of tests but they claim he is healthy. His heart is fine, his sugar is better than my sister's, etc. So with an "i don't know what happened..." he just walks around wondering when/if it's gonna happen again. cry
