Good Morning, am I supposed to be able to feel my legs? It snowed last night and is really cold outside. The best thing about today is TGIF and I have a 3 day weekend!

Hi all! This morning came off to an unsettling start. I jst woke up when I hear blood-curdling screaming somewhere outside. A woman screamed, "oh my god, someone help!" And then she screamed some more and pleaded, "Somebody help me! Help!"

I grabbed my cell and dialed 911. I looked out my windows and even walked out my front door to see if I could spot her, but no luck. I spoke to the Milwaukee police department and explained what I had heard, and they said they'd dispatch a squad to check the area. I don't know if they found anything...Milwaukee police are notoriously slow to respond, and I'd seen no sign of them before I left for work.

It shook me up a bit...I live in a nice neighborhood but who knows what might have happened. I hope that woman is safe and OK. cry

Yikes! I know what you mean about the cold - it's a wopping 8 degrees here! A 3-day weekend? Is it because of MLK Day?

No, I couldn't see her and I didn't think it was a good idea to chase after her voice - who knows where she was or what was happening. I wish I could have done more.

I agree. Number 1. KEEP YOURSELF SAFE FIRST. you done good in calling 911. I hope others heard and did the same, to add a bit more urgency to the cops at the various George Webbs in the district...

I second the holy crap!!! I hate when stuff like that happens, I might have told this before but during our client appreciation party we had a client pass out and go blue on us, we called 911 and went looking thru the party for a doctor. That was a horrible feeling too.

Wow, that would be disturbing, G-Gal. I too hope she's ok.

Its warmer here, 17 now but not supposed to get a whole lot better than that. We got just a little dusting of snow over night, not even enough to have to sweep off.

My wife has Monday off too because the bank is closed.

Carry on.

Oh that's scary. I've had stuff like that happen - even had to perform CPR twice in my life, and I hope I never need to do that again. There's always that 1/2 second of surprise where your stomach feels like it dropped into your socks and your mind starts racing for a solution. I hate that, and I hate feeling helpless afterward...when you've done all you can do and you just have to pray for the best.

lol, you guys probably wouldn't like to work here then. We got EMS out here all the time for our clients. Usually for seizures but I have had someone turn blue on me from meds, and also for diabetes. Before I worked here someone died from choking. It can be so scary. cry

Oh I bet it's scary, Woo! You have to be so ready for anything to happen. When I worked in elder care it was like that. Do you have to do a lot of training to know how to deal with those situations where you work?

Yeah we are required to do all the CPR/FIRST AID, bloodborne pathogen training etc.

Each consumer who has a severe medical issue may have their own guidelines to follow. But when it happens you just hope that all that training kicks in.

At least you called G-Gal, I think you did the right thing.

My day so far is looking pretty bleak. Since it's cold, I broke down and asked for a ride from my boss this morning, so I got here about 5 minutes late (which is a lot earlier than when she normally gets here). But I'm used to getting an early start, so that was enough to put me off. Then we had to do an emergency tidying of the showroom that's in the middle of being reorganized because a client was coming by, which cost more time. Then my coworker's client who can't wait her place in line is back wanting to redo a ton of stuff from the project I considered done a month ago. And we're still working on the big proposal for the university. And my to-do list is getting longer without anything being checked off.

So basically, I'm busy.

Morning all.

G-Gal, that is a bad start to the morning! I hope it wasn't anything serious!
