well I am just now getting ready to start the car for work. My husband is not doing well this morning and right now we are down to one car. So I stayed a bit to help and make sure he didn't need to go to the doctor. cry

See ya in a few.

I haven't really started a thread about it yet. I'll have to use my cell phone to take a picture later (I'll probably wait until after it's washed).

It's an '05 Silver Pontiac Grand Am. I have to go back into the dealership today to sign paperwork, and they're going to wash it for me while I'm there.

Congrats, Mz!

Hope Mr Woo gets better soon. cry.gif

We have a chance of rain this morning and temps in the mid 50's today. After the deep freeze, 50 degrees feels like a hot summer day.

mornin', folks!

YAY! on the new car, MZ! Can't wait to see the pics!

After a very trying weekend (with the teenage boy!), I'm elated to be back at work hmm.gif
As for the girl -- I didn't go spend the weekend with her cry.gif She told me her apartment wasn't clean and she didn't have clean sheets blankstare.gif I rescheduled her apointment for tomorrow because NOW she is NOT going to withdraw from classes... Needless to say, she is wearing me out and the boy with his 15 year old c o c k of the walk attitude is not helping!

my new saying for 2008 is --- It's all fun and games...
Learn it... Use it... smile.gif

Get caught by a train so had to take long way in. Having computer issues so it took my awhile to log in. I already didn't get much sleep and I am exhausted from all the complications! cry

Congrats on the car Mz!
Sorry about the family issues DS!

Good morning, Congrats on the car MZ! Sorry Woo and DS! cry.gif

Our two cats usually stay away from each other but made me feel really weird this morning. I was getting ready to walk out the door and looked up to see both of them laying side by side at the top of the stairs staring at me like it was the last time they would ever see me. weirdface.gif

I think you guys are right, I think it would have been a good day to stay home.

G'mornin' all.

Cars must be the theme today.  I just walked back from dropping mine off at the shop.

I had to get the basics done (oil change, tire rotation) and a few precautionary things for my big trip next month (check the belts, hoses, etc.) but the BIG thing I'm hoping is that they can fix the problem I have with the car stuttering and dying when I am at a stop or even when I hit the brakes!

They've looked at it before and couldn't figure it out, but I know a little more now.

Like the fact that when the car is parked and I hit the gas the engine doesn't rev like normal but rather "pulsates".  I've also noticed a considerable decline in MPG.  Finally, one by one the electrical items on the car have died (sliding side door, auto opening rear windows) and I'm wondering if there's any chance the problem could be electrical.

Is our forum mechanic around?  Sparky?  Any of this stuff raise any thoughts on what the problem could be?  Maybe I should start an ask Sparky thread smile.gif

Anyway, I'm like a bird without wings now.  I hope they get it back to me fast.

I would just be THRILLED to have the problem solved.  Of course, I don't know how much a carborator costs, so maybe I'd change my tune

Hmm....here are the easy things first, it could be a plugged fuel filter, plugged fuel injectors (if it's fuel injected) electrical wise it could be a injector sensor going bad, but none of this should be linked to the windows?

I was wondering if it was the fuel injector.  Right before it dies at a stoplight it feels like it's struggling to get fuel.  Maybe it's gunked up.  That would be cool.

The car should be good for atleast another 50,000 miles so I'm really hoping they just figure this out.

I hate those types of problems where they're so sporadic that you can never recreate them for the mechanic.  Atleast now with that revving issue I had something I could point to that was out of the norm.

Man, is it a full moon or something? It's just seems to be one of those days all the way around. My day isn't exactly bad, just complicated.

My hubby just called me, and he dropped his cell phone down a toilet. While it was flushing. So after I get off work from the tax office tonight, I have to go buy him a new phone. Hopefully I can get the number transferred over, but he may have to get a new number too.

Cell phones: I dropped one in the toilet once too. It didn't get flushed, but it took took the dive. One of the cell phone dealers here is my friend's brother. He told me that most phones have a sticker under the battery inside that will change color if it gets wet. He said that many times people have come in saying "my phone quit working and I don't know why". He then opens them up and checks the sticker and asks "how long was it in the toilet?" . . . to which most people reply "only a few seconds, why?"

Cars: Our Mazda used to start idling bad every now an then. After a few trials, our mechanic realized that cleaning out the air intake with some spray cleaner stuff fixed it. It would last probably not quite a year or so and then he'd clean it out again for us and it would run normally after that.

That's interesting.  I wondered if the air intake could possibly have anything to do with it.

That was the only car I've ever had that had that issue. I couldn't believe that a little, thin film of gunk on the sides of 2" around passage would cause any problem with air flow, but in this case it seemed to.

Is the air intake the actual vents at the bast of the windshield? If it is then that could very well be the problem.

The design of the car is horrible for those things. In summer and fall they clog up with wet leaves. In winter the ice and snow pack in there because the windshield is constantly being heated and the drippings all go right into the vents.

Plus over the years the cheap plastic grates have cracked and broken, allowing who knows what to fall in there hmm.gif
