Cool First Car/Truck

What was your first car that you drove alot or owned?

My first car was a 1977 Ford Maverick, 2 -door, baby blue, chromed out, w/rear end jacked up.  I loved that car so much I chose to take it to my high school prom instead of my parent's Lincoln Continental.

My first car WAS NOT COOL!  I was NOT COOL

Young Jeremy was a little republican, always trying to do the SMART thing, so my first car was a brand new car, but since I had almost no money I bought an economical, SENSIBLE car.

I bought an '88 Plymouth Horizon (also known as the Dodge Omni), and very similar to the Volkswagon Rabbitt.

IT WAS NOT A BABE MAGNET!!!!

STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPID!

Why are you opening old wounds StevieB!!!

I think my dad & I talked em down to $5500.

Sorry about that.  My car wasn't new either, it was 6 years old when I bought it.  I thought it was cool though.  I had to wait 2 more years until I could buy my first NEW car, a 1986 Ford Thunderbird.  Those were the days.

My first car was this 1980 Buick.  It was big, brown and ugly.  But hey dad gave it to me, who was I to complain.  Then it got totaled and he got me a escort station wagon.  Not the coolest car, but you could sure pack alot of peope into that car.

My first car was 1969 Dodge Coronet 440.  It was light green and built like a tank.  It was a great car to have in the winter because it went through a foot of snow like nothing.  I bought it in 1987 for $375!! I put a brand new pioneer stereo with clarion speakers in it for $550.  Can you believe the stereo system cost more than the car.

That reminds me.  I put a Kenwood cassette stereo in mine and thought that I was pretty cool because alot of my friends still had the 8 tracks in theirs.  Get this, my first cassette that I had for that stereo was given to me by my girlfriend and it was Daryl Hall and John Oats H2o.  Too funny.

My first truck was a 71 Datsun pickup. It was turquois with a white stripe down the hood and sides. I fixed it up by puting a swan hood ornament, white mag wheels chrome semi truck grab rails on the box and had one of those musical horns under the hood. And I can't forget the 10 foot cb whip antenna either. By todays standards I probably would have been laughed right out of town, but back then everyone wanted a ride in the Sparkymobile.

hahaha- thanks sparky for reviving this topic. I am sure your car was smooth back in the day! Anyone else have a favorite car that they miss?

My friend Scott and his wife bought her a new Toyota Celica that she loves. She had her previous car for 16 yrs- a yellow Honda CRX. She decided to sell this car, with well over 180,000 miles on it to her nephew who just turned 16 and got his license, for like $100. Its still a good runner.

They met the nephew at a 1/2 way point because he is from upper Wisconsin, and they are from the Milwaukee area. All this time Scott was thinking "good for the kid, good riddance to the car." As the kid drove off in this old car, Scott turned around to find his wife crying. She was going to miss her old car. Scott said he didn't see that one coming.

My first car was my dad's hand-me-down - a 1982 Toyota Corolla Tercel. When we looked into new cars at the dealership years later, the salesman didn't believe me that it was a "Corolla Tercel" saying it had to be one or the other, but he stopped arguing after seeing both words clearly on the trunk.

I liked the car enough that upon graduating college, I bought a red 1992 Tercel!! And my brother painted ghost flames on the hood, which I thought was hilarious.

I probably would have bought a 2002 Tercel, but they replaced the brand name with the Echo. What an ugly replacement.

My first car was not cool.  It was a 1985 Chevrolet Celebrity station wagon.  It was good for one thing - it could hold 8 people.  That was a lot of fun.  It was the family grocery getter.  My mom and dad went out and bought two other cars and kinda left that one to me and my sister (though my sister rarely drove it).

I haven't really ever owned a cool car.  Sigh.  Wait!  I forgot, I did own a 1991 Dodge Daytona for a little bit.  It was old, but it is probably the coolest car I have ever owned.  How sad is that?  We have a minivan and a Dodge Ram 4 door truck that my husband loves.  It was his dream truck and he finally was able to get it.  I don't really have a dream car.  I want a new minivan.  I have dream wardrobes.  I have a dream kitchen and bathroom.  I'm such a girl!
