The Every Once In Awhile Thread

Every once in awhile I like to wake up early on saturday mornings and go get a big breakfast & sit by the diner window and watch the town wake up.smile

Every once in a while I'll pick up lunch and go to a playground and watch the little kids playing.  It brings back fond memories of my time on the playground, and sometimes I'll hop on a swing and leave all my cares behind for a little while.  smile

Every once in a while I get an urge to take off on my own and go explore the rest of the world.  It's always been a dream of mine to do that.  smile

I do that too!

Or, every once in a while, I'll go play on a playground at night.

Every once in a while, I'll get in my car, pick a direction, and just drive. I usually get lost, on purpose, but I find my way back eventually.

Every once in a while, I wonder how things and circumstances in my life might be changed now if I had only done, or not done something differently years ago.

Every once in a while I get a really strong urge to get back in shape and lose weight. Then I get hungry again.

every once in awhile I will actually act my age. I saw some jeans in stores this weekend that were new jeans, but were actually stained, worn, and had holes in them! First off, my jeans will get that way naturally over time, when I get new jeans, I want clean, high-quality, good priced, new jeans!!! not something that looks as if it were pulled off a dead street person who wet hisself!biggrin.gif

also, the time has come for me to stop wearing a baseball cap backwards. not that I did that too often anyhow. was going to today, but yea I'm 38, not 18. thats done. wear it the way it was made to be worn.

is that old or just mature?confused.gif

Every once in a while, I wish I could ride my bike across the usa. The things I'd see, the people I'd meet. We move at 80 mph past some of the neatest places. Last year we discovered a brand new outdoor theater in Freedom WI because we force ourselves to drive the two laner.smilewinkaww

laughing.gif These days it is much cooler to wear your cap forwards anyway. I'd say let's go for mature - and there's nothing wrong with not wanting to adopt a particualr style. If you were looking for acid wash jeans or Zubas then I would say you're getting old. giggle.gif

Funny thing about aging... how we sort of go backwards. It scares me sometimes when I'm seeing some fashions returning for the third time during my life.

Hey, wierd, I was checking out a little station wagon that's for sale down the street from me... nice condition. It's twenty years old, 1988 Toyota Corolla! You can buy collector plates for it.weirdface

Haha, that's funny to me Squonk!!  Buying collector plates for an '88 Corolla!  I remember my aunt buying a brand new one back in '88!!  laughing.gif

I too have seen fashion come & go, come & go, and return yet again.  Dang I wish I had saved some of my clothes from the 70's and 80's.  I'd be right in style once again.  smile

Every Once In Awhile I just kick back and think how good I've got it. Sure, I wish this or that were different, but in the whole scheme of things I can't complain. Don't worry, be happy. Life is good!

Every once in a while I miss my mom something terrible.  We used to pal around, go out for lunch, shop together, or just sit around at home talking about all kinds of stuff.  As my girls are getting older sometimes there are questions I'd like to ask her or get her advice about something.  My dad tries, but it isn't quite the same as having my mom to talk to about stuff.  cry

Every once in a while I'll hand a bum or street person a few dollars.  I know you're not "supposed" to do that, but it brings a sense of happiness and "rightness" to my soul to see someone's eyes light up just a little when I do this.  I don't care what they use the money for, it's not my place to judge them on how they spend it.  I do it simply because I want to.....if the few dollars I give them brings them even one moment of happiness, then I've accomplished what I set out to do.  smile

I do that now and again too, Sandy, as long as I can do it where I'm not allowing anyone to see the contents of my purse or how much money I have on me, that is. It's a common scam to preload a mugging in this city, so I'm cautious of that. If I don't feel I can pull out money safely, I would sometimes offer to buy a sandwich for him or her at a restaurant in the vicinity. I know people have mixed feelings about giving "handouts" but I just think that, if I can offer some simple generosity to briefly enrich someone's life, why not? smile
