Happy Palm Sunday.

I hope you have a great time at Disney, Jenn!

I'm at church, hunkered down in the sound booth, enjoying a little alone/quiet time before the flood of people hit. I've got some Lincoln Brewster playing softly, doing odds and ends, cleaning up/organizing a bit, etc.

Its a nice morning. smile.gif

Oh man, I am in pain this morning. When I stretched when I got out of bed, I got this pain down my neck, shoulder, and back. I've taken a couple naproxen, but I'm still walking around like a half hunchback.

I didn't do anything yesterday that would cause me to be sore. But I don't think I'm sore, I think I pulled something. I have limited mobility on my left side. If I try to reach up with my left hand or look left, it's too painful. I've got some ice on it now. But I also used a massage bar that I got from Lush, and it worked wonders. It's got kind of an icy hot effect. I felt it working instantly. I'm going to rub some more of that in and take a couple more naproxen before bed. I hope this just works itself out in a couple days (particularly before tai chi on Tuesday).

I had the classic workout... TGIF party Friday eve. I was doing some shots of whiskey at 2am. Saturday a.m. I had the Blarney Run, 5K. My teamate noticed the smell of vodka (did I mention I was drinking vodka earlier in the night?) I ran a 21:42, 6 min 40 sec miles. No puke. A little sore because it was a hilly course. Some Guiness with dinner at friend's later, wow. Six miles on the parkway today. Man, it was cold out!yawn

laughing.gif Pilates busts your butt a little more than you'd suspect, doesn't it? Good for you for trying it out though, it's a healthy workout!

I think you've done this before.

Hey, the Miles is making wish the patio were open for the season. I've got all of my lights uncovered, most of the snow cleared. BBQ din planned for this Friday (Good Friday, for those of you who might follow that calendar) Got some Polish sausage at Sendik's.

Happy Sunday night all!!  My dad was over to visit for a bit tonight so I had to wait until he left before I could come join in the fun here on the forum.  smile

Pilates huh JD?  Good for you for trying it out.  Those be some hard exercises!

Squonk, your plans for next Friday sound good!  Man I wish it would warm up here so I could get back outside and enjoy some music on the patio while grilling and eating outside.

Make sure you stretch out a bit if the Pilates make you sore. It's quite amazing the pain you can feel from a series of exercises that don't feel so hardcore when you do them. I love Pilates because it also improves your flexibility and balance. Keep up the good work, it will pay off! smile

I really like the idea of 20 minutes too, plus not a lot of repetition in that 20 mins. do THIS. do that. now do this, now do that! it goes quick!smile.gif

I like those better than aerobics.  Aerobics dang near kills me!!  I know they're good for getting the heart rate up, but come on, at my age that could be heart attack territory!!  hmm  It doesn't help matters any that I feel like a complete fool bouncing around while doing them either.

I'm more into my weight machine and riding a stationary bike.

thats good excercise sandy! my whole thing was that I do belong to a gym, pay the dues, but haven't found the time in months to get there. This is something that might motivate me to get back, or at the very least, is good and quick regardless of going to the gym or not. 20 mins in the morning? I can find THAT.smile.gif

I like treadmill, weights, and Pilates myself. I hear ya Ghost, aerobics are good but there's a point at which it can be counter-productive if it's too high impact for you. I have crummy knees so bouncing around like that can be a bit risky. When I do Pilates I especially like the work with the ball and bands. It doesn't seem to get you sweating too much but it really makes your muscles work hard!

My daughter has to take one more Lifelong Wellness class in college to complete the requirement.  She's thinking of taking Pilates.  She also likes the weight room the college has......they've got some state of the art equipment out there!  So she's trying right now to decide which class to take....Pilates or weights.  I told her maybe the Pilates then pay the $10 per month to use the weight room if she's really interested in it.

Oh man, that stinks JD. cry I think it's been fairly recent that companies started reimbursing employees for college tuition when employee is taking classes that are work related.  It's about time!!

laughing.gif  Yeah college students and their ramen or mac & cheese!!

My daughter is currently going to school 3/4 time.  She has a part time job and full time at school was just too much for her to handle so she cut back some.  She's doing nine credit hours this term which is just about right for her.  This allows her to have some kind of social life between working and homework.  She's already said she's taking the Spring term off because that term starts the end of April and continues through August....she'd only have 2 weeks off before Fall term begins.  Since a photographer has offered her a part time job working with him this summer, she wants to be able to do that while still working the job she has right now.  If she went to school for Spring term she wouldn't be able to work with the photographer.  I think she's making the right choice for herself......she'll gain some more experience in her career field by doing this.
