I know what you mean about wearing sunglasses JR! There are times during the winter when it's really cloudy, no sunshine at all, and everything is covered with snow, but I still have my sunglasses on because somehow I get a glare of some type from everything being all white. It really bothers my eyes. And on sunny days, I never leave home without sunglasses. My kids say I'm incognito all the time, haha.
I'm sunglasses dependent too, but I think I did that to myself. When I wore glasses, I was so mad I couldn't wear sunglasses. When they started coming out with glasses that came with sunglasses clips, I got those and wore the sunglasses all the time. Then I got contacts and was delighted I could wear sunglasses all the time. Now even on cloudy days I need my sunglasses. Sometimes I have problems at night with those new ultra bright headlights, or truck lights shining in my rearview mirror. And, I always have a pair of sunglasses on top of my head.
When I did the courier route I had a couple people that teased me because I wore sunglasses even on cloudy days. And because I was in and out of buildings so much I never took them off.
One guy at Chase bank headquarters downtown always called me Fonzie. So one day I wore my prescription sunglasses and said "here, try these on". He couldn't see a thing and realized I needed them to see, so he finally stopped teasing me.
Of course, most of the time I had my contacts in and were just wearing normal sunglasses, but he didn't need to know that
I started wearing glasses in 7th grade. I FINALLY got contacts in 2000 and have worn them ever since. My eyes are VERY sensitive to light. I have to wear sunglasses until pretty much the sun goes down.

I got contacts my sr. year in high school. About four years later when I got a job starting as a finish person in a cabinet shop, the lacquer fumes were eating the contacts up so I had to quit wearing them at work.
I tried to just wear the contacts weekends, going out in the evening and stuff, but my eyes got used to not having them in enough that it was always uncomfortable to wear them. So, I just went back to wearing my glasses all the time.

The other thing I 've noticed is a dark floater in my right eye that never used to be there. I usually don't see it unless I concentrate on it. It is in the shape of a music note........I bet LS is jealous now!!

Today I can't see a thing if I don't have contacts or glasses. I still would love to have lasik. It has got to be better than this. Just to be able to wake up and see.
Same here. I can't imagine being able to read the alarm clock. Or, to fall asleep without waking up to glasses stuck in my temple or contacts glued to my eyelids.
I'm glad someone else falls alseep in their glasses sometimes. I get teased incessantly about falling alseep in my glasses, which are often referred to as my "sleeping goggles."

are you trying to protect your eyelids from adoring cats licking them when you sleep?
Smarty-pants! Actually, I don't know why I do it. I don't really like being blind as a bat, which I am without contacts or glasses. But I'm nearsighted, so I don't really need my glasses to read myself to sleep.

I've feel asleep with my glasses on while reading too.......then woke up and couldn't see a dang thing cuz my dog licked them while I was sleeping. Try waking up with a bunch of dried dog drool on your lenses.......it's like a bad drug trip....everything is blurry than heck and for a moment you can't understand why.
