Computer Help?

hey for a couple of weeks at home, my computer has been acting really bad. Ran virus scan, installed a new version, tried that. Tried system restore, tried a new version of aol, but get the same thing popping up-

Run time error
 Line: # (varies)
Do you wish to Debug? Yes/No

If I select yes, Microsoft Script Editor opens up and takes me to the line where the error occurs. I get stuck there. Its like it wants me to manally type in the correct code. I have no idea what I'm doing once I get there.

Help me?cry

I've seen that on website stuff in Explorer before. Does it just happen on a certain page? If you click No, does anything happen? (I've noticed when I click no, it still works fine.)

I used to get a lot of those when I was using Explorer for my browser, but now that I've switched to Firefox, I don't get 'em anymore.  smile

thats what I have to do Mz. Its not terrible, but annoying. It does seem to follow a pattern, particularly on sites famous for pop ups- like cnn.com always does it when I first open that page.

Firefox version 3 is almost out of beta. I've not tried it yet, but the reviews I've read are very favorable. They say it is MUCH faster and using less memory now.

I tried it out Web, and liked it. But I uninstalled it because none of my extensions worked for it yet.

I heard that the extensions are not keeping up with v3. That's why I haven't tried it yet. I really like my weather and adblocker extensions.

Yeah it's got tab browsing.  I love Firefox!!  Web was telling me about it; tried it, like it a lot.  But there are still certain things you need Explorer for so don't delete Explorer from your computer!!

Yup, Firefox had tabs LONG before IE did.

You can hit ctrl-t for a new tab or what I do a lot is right click on a link and select "open in new tab".

Edit to add: Or, hold the ctrl key as you click on a link and it will open in a new tab.

Yeah there's certain sites I use for bill paying that you need Explorer. And some Window programs need Explorer in order to work.

Sorry, my fingers got ahead of my brain.  lol

I've got the IE extension for Firefox, so if a website only works in IE, I just click the IE button and it switches it over.

well that's true. I forget even though I use it because I have to leave IE on the computer for my husband. He gets easily confused and won't learn a new one.

laughing.gif  That sounds like my husband Woo.  He always uses IE when he's on my computer.  I've asked/told him to try Firefox, but he's afraid he won't understand it.

Oh and JD, just so you know, sometimes certan websites look a little different in Firefox.  Myspace is a good example of this.  You might notice your page looks a little strange to you, but it's just the way Firefox displays certain things.

Everyone (that I know of) uses IE at work and that is what he knows. I put Firefox on my work computer but left IE on there because our homepage is set up to it from the server. So he sorta knows IE only. Even the tabs in IE confuse him

Oh this reminds me. At home I often can't sign into the forum with Firefox. It tells me that I don't allow cookies, but I do! But I am fine at work confused

I think I had to enable activeboard.com

If I remember right, I asked Web about this and he told me what I had to do.
