I'm glad you didn't call it a GOOD mornin'  hmm.gif

I got a major case of the blues this mornin'.  Plus I was coughing all night and now my throat feels like it's gone numb.

It's grey outside.  Rain is expected.  I just wanna crawl under the covers and stay there another few months.

I have a vase of daffodils on my desk! And it's supposed to be 70 degrees out today (although it could rain). My work is getting caught up, and I'm in a somewhat pleasant mood for the first time in a week. We'll see how long it lasts.

Wow, that will be a nice day, Mz.

We were to get 3-5" of snow overnight. It did snow and is still snowing, but its melting as it hits the streets. The grass is white, but the streets and roads are just wet. It is supposed to warm up into the 40's today so what we have will probably melt away.

Good morning Wisconsin! And everyone else of course! Im feeling rather chip, chip, chipper considering that I woke up this morning around 2:45 to enough thunder and lightning to make us think we were under some sort of attack, and the sound of golf balls bombarding the roof. We have a metal roof, so you can imagine what that was like.

Mr. DS said, THATS going to put some dents in my truck. I tell him, Dont worry, Dear. Im sure no one will be able to tell the hail dents from the hammer dents

*** When Isaac was around 3, he decided one afternoon that he was going to work on Daddys truck ***

Smiles everyone! Smiles!

And there goes my good day. The tire gauges we did for a client that we do a lot of stuff for are wrong. It's mostly their fault, they submitted the artwork and signed off on the proof, but as soon as I saw the final product I knew that's probably not what they really wanted. And they need them by Monday. They seem to be admitting that it's their fault, but still, I wish I would've caught it earlier and questioned them about it.

thank goodness for proofs and sign-offs. You are technically in the clear, but still theres that awkwardness of "why did you let me make this mistake???" hey??

I know that boat!!

And this is the second time there's been a problem with an order for them. On the first one, it was absolutely my fault, I only ordered one banner instead of 2. But I negotiated with the supplier and got a better price and gave the customer a substantial discount.

So they came back to me, they're not going to do the reorder, there's not enough time for a proof. And she said that since it's a little bit my fault can I give them a discount. I gave them a 30% discount. I think that's more than fair. I just hope they think so.

We'll still probably gain a tiny bit, but it's negligible. But if they come back to us with more orders (I hope they still do!), I think we'll gain more from it in the long run.

I think so too MZ. It's been my experience where if they know they can work with you, they'll come back even if there were bumps in the road, which are inevitable.

A buddy of mine went through a nightmare over a similar kind of thing. He and a partner owned a cabinet shop. They were building a kitchen for a lawyer. They made samples of everything and the Mrs. Lawyer loved them. He had her sign right on the samples that they were acceptable. They got 50% of the money to start the job.

They built the kitchen and started installing it. She changed her mind and decided she wanted it different. They said they would do what she wanted, but she would have to pay them for what they had finished. She got her lawyer husband into it and next thing my friend new, he was being sued. The lawyer was going after the down payment and he created a bunch of other things he should be reimbursed for.

This lawyer basically admitted to my friend that "you upset my wife, I'm going to make your life miserable."

Also, one of the funny things is that at one of the hearings, the lawyer showed up late and told the judge "We need to hurry this along, I'm a busy man and have to be somewhere in a few minutes." The judge looked at him and said "This is YOUR SUIT! If you don't have time for your own case, maybe we should just throw it out right now?" What an idiot.

Since he had all the proof and even the designer testified that he did indeed provide what she originally asked for, my friend won the case . . . but it cost him about $20,000 for his own lawyer when it was over.

That was the final straw in a struggling cabinet maker's life. He decided it wasn't worth working with people any more and he sold out and got a job working for someone else.

Ugh, darn lawyers. Luckily, I doubt we'd have to deal with that in this case. But that's one of the reasons I do so many things by email. Then it's in writing. Everyone else around here just calls people, but I try to do more of it by email. If someone approves a proof, I want them to email me back, not call.

Yes.  Yes.  And just about anything else.  It's amazing the things people think of to put a logo on.

Hmm.....Several people do pens and other things in the office for clients around Christmas time. Do you have a website you want to give me? I heard a lot of unhappiness with this new company we used last year.

Well, our website is www.baughenterprises.com, but it's not too advanced.  We've got some stuff up, but no where near all the stuff we can get.  Usually people come to me with what they want, I find it and send them pictures, specs, and quotes, and then they order.

Very cool.

I would like to order one of my logos be placed on Sparky's forehead.

I think that would be good advertising.

Email me the proof . . . k?
