Something colorful and permanent would be nice.

Well, I would think all the owners would pitch in for it...

I did talk about doing stuffed penguins once, but that kind of fell through the cracks.

Nah, if we do a deboss, it would kind of be like a branding iron.  And Web, we can add a color fill to that, but it'll cost extra.

today at lunch I am going to go over to Target and look for some new shoes. They usually have a real bad selection for men, but they are close. Maybe I'll get lucky.
I need some black dress shoes. If they have a good price and selection on sandals, I;ll get a pair of those too.

Good luck, JD.

This winter, I was in our local shoe store and they had a cool pair of brown Nikes. They were basically a neat looking sneaker but they were brown. I thought that would be really comfortable but still nice and look better than a plain white sneaker for wearing to church and things like that.

They didn't have my size and I looked all over in other stores in bigger towns and couldn't find anything similar. The local store said they could order any size, but when she called to order one for me, they had been discontinued.

I think that is the only time that I've ever been like "Man, I would really like to have a pair of those shoes".

I'd say more like a mini-billboard.

thanks web. I'll let y'all know if I am successful. Usually thats the problem here too, not really having anything to chose from that I like. And I'm not that picky even. So long as my socks look good when I wear my sandals, I;m happy.smile

I am way impressed. 2 pairs of shoes and food from the culvers drive thru- took me 19 minutes!

I ended up with the same exact type of shoe I bought last year. They're good for a year. Ended up with a pair black sports sandals as well. I should be set for summer now.

the lady in front of me bought $48.27 worth of socks.

An old folks home bus was letting people off when I arrived. A bunch of old folks were standing in the door way talking, blocking everybody. Normally that would irritate me, but they looked  just so dang happy it was hard to be irritated.

no ice in my rootbeer, but thats ok.

Hi all.  Woke up in a "don't mess with me today" mood and hoped it would get better as the day went on, but that doesn't seem to be happening.  hmm  So I'm concentrating on staying in my own bubble today in an effort to avoid p*ssing off people.

I have a question for those of you in the graphic arts business.  My oldest daughter is thinking about buying a Wacom, but she isn't sure what size she should buy?? In her graphics class they have a few for the students to use and try out....she likes the one that lets her work on photos as opposed to the one that just lets you add graphics to text pages. (???) I don't know very much about these at all, but I thought maybe some of you in this field might have a suggestion or two that I could pass along to her.

If you copy this link, they look like this JD.  I guess some are used to adding graphics to text; other models let you edit photos right on the screen.  She's thinking of the "on screen" type model.  I dunno....her teacher said these are the up and coming technology for graphic designers/photographers.

Hm, Sandy, I'm confused.

I'm assuming she's talking about a Wacom tablet. I have one at home. It's basically a substitute for a mouse, it's a tablet and pen. They're great for drawing on the computer.

But, like I said, they're a mouse substitute (or addition, I had a mouse and the tablet on my desktop computer), not a program. So it shouldn't matter which tablet you get, you should be able to do the same things with it. Maybe the one she has at school has some special software with it?

When it comes to the size of tablet, I say get one as big as the computer screen you're working on as long as you can afford it. I think if the screen and drawing area are the same, it makes it easier to visualize. But, I have one of the smallest ones, because well, it's cheaper.

Yeah, it must be like what you have Mz.  Maybe the software is different on the two or three models they have at her school.  I do know one of them is an "on screen" model....she's used it a few times already at school for editing photos. So if she buys one, and if she can afford the price, would you recommend getting one as big as the computer screen or will a smaller model work just as well?  I looked at Studia.com yesterday and about fell over when I saw the prices for some of the models they have.

Oh wow, I am behind the times. That is so cool! Okay, here's the real difference.

The tablets, like I have, are where you're drawing on this blank tablet and it shows up on the monitor. Like I said, it works like a mouse. This is what she's referring to with the "just lets you add graphics."

The one she wants, which is uber cool, is kind of like a touch screen with a pen. It would be equivalent to laying your monitor in your lap and using your mouse right on it.

They both essentially do the same thing, but the second one is more intuitive.

When it comes to size, like I said for the tablet, get one the same size as the screen. But for the second one, since it is essentially the screen itself, it's really a matter of personal preference.

If she gets a tablet and gets one smaller than her screen, there's more of a learning curve. Basically, it would be like drawing something small and have it show up big. Depending on what she's using it for at the time, that can be a hindrance. But if she can't afford a bigger one, she'll adapt to using the smaller one.

Hey Ghost . . . She might really enjoy watching "Pixel Perfect" from Revision3:
http://revision3.com/pixelperfect/

I see they have 76 episodes now. I've only watched a few of them but the guy who does it, Bert Monroy, is really good at digital drawing.

If she's into graphics, and you have fast enough internet, you might show her an episode of PixelPerfect, I think she'll like it. I remember that one of them I watched was about the Wacom tablets. It wasn't one that you draw on the screen though, it was a separate tablet thing.
